F1 Manager 23: The evolution in race car driving proves it's deeper than the driver's seat
I can honestly say I have saved big bucks and dodged sketchy potential dates all thanks to the recently released F1 Manager 23. First and foremost, a massive thank-you to my go-to over on the F1 Manager 23 PR side - it took forever because of how amazingly nitty gritty this experience has been and my goodness - is this a perfect stay-at-home-and-game-until-you-win-the-big-one excuse!
To be perfectly clear? The initial thought of getting out of the player - er - driver’s seat and playing a much more crucial role behind the scenes of your racers in F1 Manager 2023 can make most people curious at the very least and almost everyone question the fun factor but if you’re hardcore into the racing world and love the thrill of managing your brand and racer to success, well, let’s just say, Phil Jackson is more celebrated than Scottie Pippen in 2023, right?
The F1 Manager 2023 put my butt beyond pedal to the metal and showed me how much really goes into what those managers do behind the scenes. A second year in and F1 Manager 2023 continues to perfect a title which really stands alone in the gaming sport.
While I’ll always love F1 and the Need For Speed games, there’s something extra special about what the Formula 1 Manager perspective brings out of me. Before geeking out too heavily on my behalf, it’s definitely crucial to share some deep words from the F1 Manager 23 team about the importance of getting this out to the masses:
Our goal with the F1® Manager series has been to create a deep and immersive Formula 1® management experience which evokes the high drama and visual emotion of the sport whilst ensuring players actions in the hot seat have a tangible effect on the stories which they create whilst in charge of their team.
F1® Manager 2023 seeks to build upon our first sports management title by offering more variety in how players can approach the game, deepening our ties to authenticity and fully representing the 2023 Formula 1® season, and fine tuning and emphasising more drama and realism across race weekends.
Central to our development have been our incredible F1® Manager community – we are delighted to have built a wonderful following
of fans from our debut sports management simulation, and we continue to be thankful for their support in working with us to create a game which truly reflects the sport. 2023’s game addresses key community feedback, and we hope to continue this collaborative approach in sharing our combined passion for Formula 1® as we strive to push the boundaries of sports management.
F1® Manager 2023 will be the most authentic, comprehensive and dynamic F1® management experience to date, and we can’t wait to see our players enjoy the additional layers we’ve added to managing their F1® team. In this document we’ve highlighted the new features coming to 2023’s release, with a real dedication to authentically representing the 2023 FIA Formula One World ChampionshipTM.
We also are delighted to confirm that team switching will be coming to
F1® Manager 2023 in Early September, as a part of our post launch update strategy. Team Principals will be offered the opportunity to take control of a competitor based on their performance, extending their legacy on the pitwall. On behalf of the entire development team, I hope you enjoy your time with F1® Manager 2023 and we look forward to seeing your content in the coming weeks.
ANDREW FLETCHER
Game Director
Say less? You better believe it. The game hits on all cylinders and the more I explored what it has to offer, I kept finally understanding why other titles and games in the sports genre have pushed for allowing gamers to take on the GM position of a team and franchise - and of course provide a coach’s perspective - but to go the extent F1 Manager 23 has done?
Mind-blowing. An entire project dedicated to helping you mentor and guide the new generation of racers from around the globe? Super amazing.
One of the biggest improvements and additions to the franchise comes in the form of the Race Replays and going into those key Race Moments - skipping the start and finish and being placed in a thrilling segment of a race and being forced to make some key decision which ultimately will make or break your driver’s fate.
Players will relive key moments from the 2023 FIA Formula One World ChampionshipTM with the brand-new Race Replay mode, which features two unique types of scenarios. In Starting Grid, players will take control of a team of their choice in a full race which replicates the weather conditions and grid positions from its real-world counterpart. Race Moments, meanwhile, will challenge fans to take control of a specific scenario part-way through a Grand PrixTM, aiming
to achieve a set objective and improve on the real outcome, capturing key strategic calls from throughout a thrilling season. Both sets of scenarios incorporate a wealth of real F1® data, and challenge players to make the right calls to rewrite the weekend’s result. New scenarios will be added to F1® Manager 2023 following every race after launch until the end of the season.
While you might just skim the surface when initially starting the game up and getting comfortable you’ll find your bread and butter really comes from everything ranging to the cost cap making you have to determine big decisions based on a budget to the reality of just how confident your driver is based on your managing. Does your driver feel the pressure and lose control or with successful bouts and face-offs, ultimately embrace challenges and pushes forward with successful strides based on your managing?
The thrill and heart-pounding impact this title has easily outweighs how much you feel the driver is feeling the pressure - the extreme highs and lows are all based on your decisions and while fate it one thing, putting your driver in a position to win time in and time out? My goodness. It’s a thrill ride.
Buckle up and embrace everything F1 Manager 23 has to offer - minus the sweats, of course. Safe and fun gaming!
F1 Manager 23 is currently available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
