Lil Tjay: The New York rap heavyweight flashes back to a year ago with 'June 22'

New York rapper Lil Tjay isn’t holding back - at all. Instead, the rap heavyweight is going strong with his new ‘June 22’ single coming - you guessed it - a year after his near-death attack and sets the tone for what’s arriving next month with a much-needed 222 studio album.

Lil Tjay’s ‘June 22’ goes hard on the one-year shooting anniversary

LT comes through with the hard-hitting tune and details every last moment from what went down a year ago. The song doesn’t miss a beat - literally - and even reveals his every thought from last year’s near-fatal attack.

Today, Lil Tjay unveils the vulnerable, tell-all single “June 22nd” via Columbia Records. With a blend of melodic prowess, a New York sound and captivating storytelling, the 22-year-old platinum rapper foreshadows his experience and trauma on the days leading up to him being shot on “June 22nd.” The new single is accompanied by the Dell Nie directed music video where Lil Tjay recounts the day that changed his life a year ago.

Packed with energy, paranoia and thought-provoking lyrics, Lil Tjay reflects on the song, “It's been a long road. A year ago being in New York City for the first time without security didn't think it'd change my life, but it did and I'm blessed to have a second chance.”

“June 22nd” is lifted from Lil Tjay’s forthcoming new album 222, dropping July 14. This project showcases Lil Tjay’s growth and evolution as an artist and is the first body of work since his 2021 platinum-certified release of Destined 2 Win.
