Talibando: The Detroit rap artist prepares for battle with the 'Art of War' album

Forget just putting out singles and music videos these days. It’s all about the full-fledged album flex coming courtesy of Detroit’s Talibando showing out with an Art of War studio project.

It’s pure audio fire from start to finish coming courtesy of the Motown native. Along with putting out a full LP, how about getting a ‘W.D.W’ music video too? Say less.

On the heels of releasing last month's video for "Last of a Dying Breed", Detroit rapper Talibando has just shared his new project Art of War — out now via EMPIRE. The tape arrives alongside a video for new single "W.D.W" and marks Talibando's first effort of 2024, with features from Veeze, Payroll Giovanni, and Trigga500K. The project is loaded with production that weaves between soulful charm and dark grit, pairing perfectly with Talibando's effortlessly engaging delivery and vividly cinematic street tales. Talibando has been on an exceptional run this year — he recently opened for Veeze on his Ganger Tour and made his first appearance with On The Radar. 2023 saw him release WAR LORD, which boasted appearances from Veeze, LUCKI, BabyTron, and Babyface Ray, as well as Pyrex Kids, which featured Boldy James, Wizz Havinn, and more.

Talibando turned heads within the Michigan rap scene and beyond with projects like E S 7 M and Navy Music before releasing his breakthrough tape, the aforementioned WAR LORD, last year. The project garnered praise from the likes of HipHopDX and Pitchfork, the latter of which hailed him for the "patient and pragmatic edge to his rhymes that screams Jeezy." In addition to "Last of a Dying Breed", recent months have also seen him release singles "S680", "Navy Membership", and "Money for War".
