I’m addicted. The new ‘Hip Hop Homicides’ series is probably the first crime show I have found myself really keeping tabs on and being more and more blown away with each episode not just from the subject matter but how host Van Lathan keeps it 100 on attacking the situation from all angles.

The series is solid. With the first episode premiering a couple weeks ago focusing on the murder of Pop Smoke to last week’s King Von broadcast, these episodes really connect with the culture and help provide clarity - but even more, a connection to the family and friends associated with the slain hip-hop artist.

Having the luxury of watching episodes in advance, it’s safe to say the third broadcast keeps the level of expectations high. The focus on Magnolia Shorty’s unforgettable 2010 murder goes deep from family relatives to even Cash Money legend Juvenile speaking on a fellow Louisiana native being taken away through gun violence.
