Today, emerging Philadelphia rapper D Sturdy teamed up with New York’s Fivio Foreign for his first single of 2023, “Against The Word” out now via Stack or Starve Records/Def Jam Recordings. Arriving alongside the single is a cinematic visual that features D Sturdy taking Fivio Foreign to his hometown in Philly’s Abbotsford Projects. It captures a special moment where both East Coast emcees are embraced by the city’s pure energy and love as they trek dirt bikes around Philly 20 cars deep.
Speaking on the single, D Sturdy shares, “the inspiration behind ‘Against The World’ was me feeling like I couldn’t trust anyone at the time. But I put a spin on it and made it my own. A high-energy song.” Expanding on the collaboration, he adds, “Fivio has been supporting me for a minute. He actually brought me out to one of his shows before, so it was only right that we made a song together.”
“Against The World'' follows last week’s news of D Sturdy’s signing to Def Jam under Stack or Starve’s joint venture. The new single serves as the first offering from D Sturdy’s upcoming project slated for later this year. The Philly Goats member continues to define his artistry while carrying the torch for both the emerging Philly scene and the inner-city youth.
