Secret Invasion: Three must-see moments from the premiere episode

Holy. Nick. Fury. Smokes. It brings me extreme - yup, I said it - pleasure to officially re-welcome myself and many of you back to the Marvel Studios world. Much like a sports team having gone through some championship seasons and going through a skid of coming up short - maybe even missing the playoffs altogether - Marvel Studios has put out respectable series which some hit, some missed and some were just 50/50. The new Samuel L. Jackson-starring ‘Secret Invasion’ is a direct, must-watch hit.

Now just because it’s a hit doesn’t mean it’s Date Night approved, right? Wrong. The Marvel Studios heads have put together an absolute must-watch show worthy of taking a date night back home to the comfort of your couch alongside bae for nearly 60 minutes of action and drama - yup, we have some legit emotionally-driven acting going down.

So while you have bae boo’d up with you, there are going to be some inevitable make-out moments - no matter how much you try to resist so it brings me pleasure to highlight three must-see moments you have to be on the lookout for no matter how much you and bae want to make out.

1. The Intro Scene + Opening Credits

You have to watch how it all begins, right? This is a no-brainer but with the anticipation to see what exactly this series is all about, there’s no reason to go into make-out goals with bae until at least getting through the first few minutes. A bit of twists, a lot of cameo and plenty of, ‘Okay, when do we see Samuel L. Jackson?’ - and it sets the tone for the entire series - notably the storyline and the presence of Skrulls.

In the same breath, you have to watch the opening credits, too. The unique approach of using artwork to paint some vivid moments you’ll come to expect to see - it’s truly an artsy approach to giving you full feel for how unique and different this series is from others you’ve recently watched.

2. Emilia Clarke’s Introduction

In all fairness? There’s all types of star power in the new series but my goodness, if there’s not something special about G’iah being represented by actress Emilia Clarke. It’s crucial to pay special attention to this point - apologies, I can’t recall the exact moment she’s introduced, somewhere in the 15-20 minute time frame - but it’s vital to put the kissing action on pause and tune into the dialogue Clarke’s character gives to another new face to the franchise.

Avoiding any type of major spoiler, let’s just say this moment, or moments, really sets up the show’s overall focus and plot line. Needless to say, missing her presence and interactions will throw you off her connection to another key character in the series along with where the villain(s) storyline goes.

3. The Explosive Final 5 Minutes

My goodness - this is exactly where this series goes beyond what we’ve seen in other Marvel Studios shows. The final minutes of the premiere episode is as gripping and mind-blowing as you’ve experienced in your favorite Marvel Studios big screen film.

There are endless things to love about the new series whether you want to geek out about Olivia Colman bringing an award-winning presence to the Marvel Cinematic Universe or fan favorite Don Cheadle having much more than just a cameo presence in the six-episode series.

Throughout the next few weeks, look forward to weekly coverage on those must-see moments from each episode and of course check throughout Attack The Culture for major co-signs and highlights of the series.

‘Secret Invasion’ streams weekly on Wednesdays from Disney+.
