In all fairness, I game for real while some of y’all are Sam Bowie. Super throwback JAY-Z reference right there but I want to be as fair as possible - gaming is 7 days a week for me at least twice a day on weekdays and late night gaming with the friends on weekends. Needless to say, the bar has remained very high with my Turtle Beach headset but just like one era comes to an end, the SteelSeries Arctis 7P+ Wireless headset is the new standard for gaming.

My life has changed - honestly. For the past year of playing on next generation consoles including the Xbox Series and PlayStation 5, I have realized more than ever a gaming headset is the core way to completely experience your system. In other words, relying on soundbars or even standard TV speakers should really just be for the convenience of Netflix & Chill or having pals over for Friendsgiving-type settings.

Gaming though? It’s vital to have a quality headset and Turtle Beach has held me down for quite awhile. But one thing I would like to point out is there has never been any sort of pizazz and style with those headset. Sorry - I am just being honest. While they have remained nice, comfortable and doable, I relate them to my past Rav4 vehicle before I upgraded - at the same freaking lease rate, geesh - to a BMW X3. Now enter the White SteelSeries Arctis 7P+ Wireless headset.

I contemplated doing a ‘7 things you’ll love’ feature on why these are mind-blowing - quite literally - but I decided to just go from the heart and relay this to the experiences I have had since locking in to PlayStation 5 titles including NBA 2K22, Call of Duty: Vanguard, UFC 4 and more.

The worst part of gaming is always going to be the need to recharge your headset. For the record, most headsets including you-know-who tend to last somewhere between 15 to 20-plus hours given a full charge. This new SteelSeries headset?

30 FREAKING HOURS.

Yes - 30 hours of non-stop wireless usage meaning you can literally play an all-day and all-night marathon spree of gaming before needing to recharge. Even if you’re not into long periods of gaming, the fact you don’t need to constantly charge up the headset and delay your gaming alone is reason enough to take the SteelSeries serious. I am always cautious with the charges but in case you’re ever in a serious crunch and completely forget to charge up your dead headset, a 15-minute quick charge gives you a solid 3 hours of gameplay.

The other great thing about the headset is you don’t have to remain confined to just one platform. Let’s face it - Apple is feeling the pressure to deliver and with its Apple Arcade being an excellent included feature to the Apple One subscription service, you can quickly find yourself using this headset to game on your Mac.

There are other spots like PC, Android and the Oculus Quest 2 - not to mention the Nintendo Switch - which can really expand how often you find yourself loving this headset and playing games outside of the PlayStation offerings.

One o fly favorite features - especially being a hip-hop head is the overall style. These are sexy AF. Simply said. The overall look is very GQ and the way the microphone easily pulls out and can be stretched or curved into the angle of your choosing? Bawwwwwwwwwse.

The buttons around the insanely comfortable on-ear pads make quick voice and sound adjustments a crazy breeze. The elastic strap makes adjusting the headset not only easy but very comfortable without any issues or fears of damaging the headset at all.

The quality attached to this headset is just ridiculous. And to think we’ve made it this far without even acknowledging the overall sound. I tested this headset out with a friend the other night in place of my previous go-to Turtle Beach headset and was presented with, “Wow, I hear you very loud and clear. How’d you adjust your headset like that?” As you might imagine, hearing the positive feedback before even asking shows you how much of a game-changer this headset really is.

Now to the price point which I have learned the hard way in life. For the all-white set I currently don - the Arctic 7P+ Wireless (Black or White) goes for $169.99. Now before you check me about the Turtle Beach set I don previously setting me back $99, I want to point out a few major things.

First - I made the crucial mistake in buying an Xbox Series S in 2020 because I am of the digital era and did not care about having the disc feature. Big mistake. While I loved saving the $200 by paying $299 versus the $499 price point of the Xbox Series X, I write to you today revealing I am subscribed to nearly 10 Twitter accounts trying with way too much energy trying to secure an Xbox Series X to experience the 4K to 8K quality the Series S does not include. If I could go back in time, the $200 difference would have saved me a massive amount of headaches and frantically looking at my iPhone every time a receive a notification.

Needless to say - pay the freaking $69 more to go from Economy Plus to First Class experience on your gaming goals.

To the folks at SteelSeries - I personally cannot thank you enough for allowing me the opportunity to review this headset and take my gaming goals up 100 notches. Even better - thank-you for setting the new standard in gaming goals and bringing my next generation gaming to the max.
