Today, breakout singer-rapper Lawsy flexes his rhymes on groovy new single “Giddy Up.” Listen HERE via Listen To The Kids/Geffen Records. On the swaggering track, the budding hitmaker spins a few of his favorite things—sex, guns, and plenty of action—into an intoxicating head-nodder. The accompanying video shows he can bring that bluster to even the most mundane of places, from the hair salon to an empty parking lot.
As per Lawsy’s modus operandi, he just wants to “f*ck not fight”—still, he’s always ready for the latter, just in case. “Cruisin’ down the block, clutching on my pistol, take her to the spot, show her how them bricks move,” he lets loose over a chilled-out beat and slinky layers of keyboard and guitar. His irreverent humor and effortless flow add a sense of levity, even when he’s at his most defiant. In the video, he keeps it casual—and a little retro—tossing in playful details like a rotary dial phone and a classic pink ride.

“Giddy Up” arrives on the heels of two equally blistering singles with the funky “27 GH”and the lovey-dovey “So Many Reasons”—his first releases of 2023. Last year, he watched his music career explode when the track “Hotel” became a viral hit, nabbing #8 on the U.S. Spotify Viral Chart and amassing over 15 million streams across all versions. The song is featured on his 12-track EP SEXXNB Vol. 1, which dropped in the fall.
Inspired by musicians as diverse as Tyrese and Tony Shhnow, Lawsy brings a new dimension to the SoundCloud scene with woozy melodies and rich, immersive beats. Though he’s only been releasing music for a short time, EPs like Grown Hoes and Rich Drug Addict showcase his relentless work ethic and creativity, finding new ways to weave his voice with squirming synths and pounding percussion. Last year, Lawsy was selected as one of YouTube’s Artists on the Rise and reached the Top 150 of Shazam searches.
