Riovaz's new 'Tantrum (Pace Yourself)' is the perfect workout anthem
Just to be clear, you might not want to put this song on if you’re doing insanely heavy weightlifting - but if you’re cycling or on the treadmill? Please believe Riovaz’s new ‘Tantrum (Pace Yourself)’ is really a hard-hitting dance anthem.
With 2023 days away, it’s only right to turn up the heat - literally too - and get into the zone with some help courtesy of the Darkroom/Geffen Records artist.
Today, budding artist, Riovaz looks inward atop a fluttering dance soundscape on his new single “Tantrum (Pace Yourself).” The New Jersey newcomer’s pen is typically sharp after recent releases “you’re a parasite” and “Tell Me Your Fears” positioned him as an acute observer of romance gone wrong. A continuation of his poignant lyricism, “Tantrum (Pace Yourself)” is available now – via Darkroom/Geffen Records.
The succinct two-minute track is kickstarted by a thumping beat, which sets the tone for a catchy pep talk. Riovaz is tired of putting an undeserving person ahead of his own needs and steps into his worth. “I’m fine, baby, I’m the one who’s stopping me,” Riovaz sings in the pulsating chorus. “I love me way too much, girl, I’m my ecstasy.” It’s bold, unfiltered, and extremely danceable. Of the track he shares “’tantrum’ is an ode to the discontent I have with hearing all these comparisons people make just because they can’t figure me out. Everything about this track highlights my anger towards people and the anger built up towards my own flaws.”
“Tantrum” brings home a banner year for Riovaz, whose momentum hasn’t let up since his 2020 DIY pop earworm “Prom Night” reeled in over 117 million Spotify streams and proved sticky on TikTok. Additionally, this year, his tracks including “Tell Me All Your Fears,” “you’re a parasite,” “see u there,” and “God Save the Girl” now collectively account for 25 million streams. His live performance chops are also on display across seven US dates supporting glaive’s America Is a Place That Exists tour this fall, including a sold-out New York date. Next year Riovaz will look to deepen the connection with his burgeoning fan base in February. His 13-date “RIORAVE” headlining tour will kick off to a SOLD-OUT show in Los Angeles on February 2, 2023, and snake through several cities including New York, which is also sold out, and Chicago, before heading overseas for six more March shows. “Tantrum” will amplify an already infectious setlist.
