We're hours from Call of Duty: Vanguard season 4 firing up

I can’t lie - I am in love with Call of Duty. Like, love-love. My love never went away, fully, but just like any franchise, there are some instances where you just feel like a certain release didn’t live up to another one. With Modern Warfare 2 around the corner, Activision is staying committed to keeping gamers happy with its Vanguard content and with season 4 on deck? You better believe the fun is happening come June 21.

More than just running and gunning, it’s all about a Mercenaries of Fortune with season 4. Peep the official details, and trailer, and start getting hyped.

Mercenaries of Fortune, the fourth season for Call of Duty: Vanguard and Warzone, begins this week, with Vanguard at 9am PT on June 21 and at 9AM PT in Warzone on June 22.

To kick off this new season, a new map — Fortune’s Keep — will be in Warzone as the featured Resurgence experience, splitting time with Rebirth Island to give tactically minded Operators a new battleground to discover and master. There will also be significant changes to Caldera: a reduction in foliage and visibility improvements, a reintroduction of a memorable point of interest in Storage Town, other point of interest updates, a new vehicle, and several new items, including the return of keycards for new bunkers.

Mercenaries of Fortune also introduces Task Force Immortal to Vanguard, which includes Carver Butcher, Callum Hendry and Ikenna Olowe. All three Operators feature a 20-level XP progression path, including two Operator Quips, two Skins, XP bonuses, a finishing move, and more.

Call of Duty: Warzone is really listening to the fans

Give it up to the powerful folks over at Raven Software and the Call of Duty: Warzone community. Based on community feedback, the powerhouse has reverted its load out drop timing in standard Warzone to match the previous system in place before Season One.

Give it up to the powerful folks over at Raven Software and the Call of Duty: Warzone community. Based on community feedback, the powerhouse has reverted its load out drop timing in standard Warzone to match the previous system in place before Season One.

The official details come courtesy of the Call of Duty blog but make sure to keep scrolling to get more details on what’s brewing at Raven Software.

In anticipation of Season Two’s launch, the Call of Duty® team is pleased to share a recent gameplay change Raven Software is making in WarzoneTM.

Following community feedback during Season One, Raven Software is reverting the standard Battle Royale Loadout Drop timing.

As part of today’s minor update, Operators should expect to see Loadout Drops available to purchase in Buy Stations at any time, rather than restricting availability during a match’s opening minutes.

This change will not affect Call of Duty®: Vanguard Royale and is one of numerous updates that all studios worked to deploy over the past two weeks and beyond.

More intel on what changed in Warzone since our January 19 community update – including bug fixes and other quality of life changes – can be found via Raven Software’s patch notes.

Those interested in Vanguard’s updates can view Sledgehammer Games’ Patch Notes here.

Both studios – and all those working on Call of Duty – will continue to listen and act upon community concerns of all levels.

As we head into Season Two, which will further address gameplay optimization, balancing, game stability and bugs, you can expect more details about these updates via the Call of Duty blog, from patch notes directly from Sledgehammer Games and Raven Software, and across Call of Duty social channels.

In case this wasn’t enough for you, check out the update on a Warzone patch note update which went down today.

Here's everything you need to know about Call of Duty: Vanguard Season One's Caldera a.k.a. Warzone Pacific

Let’s face it - NO game is messing with Call of Duty: Vanguard right now. I’ve even semi-retired my NBA 2K22 gaming goals to just focus on bodying the competition - literally - and driving my XP to all-new heights. The gameplay and overall fun factor of this title? Insanity. Now let’s give you even more reason to make COD: Vanguard your only vital gaming goals for the rest of the year by introducing you to Caldera a.k.a. Warzone Pacific.

Normally, I would take the time to break down each outstanding feature and really brag about my own gaming experience - but because Activision has a freaking insanely dope team of PR writers, ATC will leave it to those folks to dish on the epicness of what’s going on once December 8 touches down.

Pack your bags, because you're headed to Paradise - the new home for Warzone Pacific known as Caldera, kicking off on December 8. Call of Duty: Vanguard owners will receive 24 hours of exclusive access to Caldera, the brand-new Warzone Pacific map that was built on learnings from the community, marking a new era of intense tactical combat on a massive scale. Featuring a dedicated Playlist with new vehicles and Vanguard weapons, Warzone Pacific’s first season kicks off another year of free content comprised of 15 huge, distinct areas to explore and fight across. In order for Vanguard players to access Warzone Pacific 24 hours early, they need to have played at least one Vanguard Multiplayer game.

As part of the Season One update, RICOCHET Anti-Cheat will deploy a new, internally developed kernel-level driver on PC to assist in identifying cheaters in Warzone. This will allow players to focus more on the fun new offerings in Warzone Pacific as #TeamRICOCHET fights unfair play with its new anti-cheat security initiative. This kernel-level driver is coming first to Warzone and will be required for all PC players as of this update.

Caldera and Warzone Pacific are just the beginning for the free content to be offered in Season One of Call of Duty: Vanguard and Warzone. Stay tuned for additional intel about two free functional weapons, new Operator, Zombies content, Multiplayer modes and two maps all launching on December 8, including a Pacific-inspired take on a fan-favorite Call of Duty map. Later in the seasons fans can expect two more Operators, an additional core Multiplayer map and returning small-team tactical mode, additional Zombies info, another free weapon unlocked via Challenges and a festive celebration across both games.

Call of Duty: Vanguard makes me never want to play Battlefield 2042

Let me be 100 percent honest - I was fully onboard for playing EA’s Battlefield 2042 this week - from the mounted anticipation, my endless hours of playing Battlefield V over the summer and getting the ridiculously non-stop promotions across my PlayStation 5/Xbox Series S home screens plus YouTube. And then I played Call of Duty: Vanguard.

To be fair, I knew it was probably over when I first played the beta version of the multiplayer weeks ago. Huge shout-out to the legendary Big T for always holding me down with the early access and perks of the newest Call of Duty games and thus having the luxury of playing the multiplayer on the early side through the beta let me know this had two key factors I really missed and wished for in Cold War - busting through doors and oh yeah, BUSTING THROUGH DOORS.

There was no better feeling in my previously all-time favorite Call of Duty title - Modern Warfare - than enjoying those initially great graphics, explosions and bursting through doors to either be greeted by endless gunfire and bombs or getting the jump on some folks lacking very badly. This absence in last year’s edition hurt my soul beyond belief and likely contributed to me realizing how much fun I could have in Battlefield V.

But possibly based on some feedback or a need to deliver a few notches of awesomeness beyond what we received from Cold War - Activision came correct on Vanguard and it doesn’t even pain me to say this but…

I never want to play Battlefield 2042.

Not in all honesty, when it eventually makes its way to EA Play I might get my hands on it because why not but on an even more realistic note, I actually think I might not. I have not experienced this much fun in a shooting game as I have with Vanguard.

From the busting through doors - did I mention this already - to the quirky ESPN-style of ‘Play of the Game’ and even the voting mechanism where you can show your support for who performed the best a.k.a. The MVP from the match you just experienced, Vanguard has outdone itself.

I love it. I love it. I freaking love it.

I contemplated making this ‘review’ more along the lines of the technical side and graphics and blah-blah-blah and a little yada-yada-yada but I believe the best and only thing to do is give this game the biggest co-sign possible:

This is the best Call of Duty video game I have played dating back to my PlayStation 3 days with Modern Warfare 2.

Period.

Stay tuned for a more detailed rundown on the game but having played Call of Duty: Vanguard daily since Monday, November 8, I can tell you in all honesty this game does not suffer from any dull moments, maps or load outs.

Well done, Activision. Well done.
