Skilla Baby: The hard-hitting 'Ok Bet' has officially arrived

Detroit’s Skilla Baby is hungrier than ever and proving it. On a Good Friday, it’s only right to deliver some good music so the Motown native blesses fans with his new ‘Ok Bet’ anthem.

Workout goals. Must-hear. It’s all there. Peep the details and lock in.

Today, rising Detroit rapper Skilla Baby returns with "Ok Bet," a menacing new single that taunts doubters and ops. The track follows on the heels of last month's "Marty McFly," which showed off his vocal chops, and 2022's acclaimed We Eat the Most EP. "Ok Bet" is available now at all digital retailers.

Bruising writing and lived-in authenticity makes "Ok Bet" a winning addition to the Michigan artist's growing discography. "N****s keep playing man that shit don't make sense, when I know 20 n****s that's gonna take hits," Skilla raps over ominous beats. "N****s say they gonna kill me — ok bet, but I ain't even bust a sweat them boys ain't threats." While the subject matter is gritty, he squeezes in a few hilarious boasts: "Lil n***a but my bag big as Saint Nick's."

"Ok Bet" arrives a couple of weeks after "Marty McFly," which demonstrated Skilla's singing ability and was accompanied by a Back to the Future-themed video. Watch it HERE. Prior to that, the rapper made waves with 2022's We Eat the Most. The 7-song set cemented his credentials as one of the most insightful newcomers in hip-hop. Whether decoding social media posts (“Duck Your Taco”) or recounting hardships (the hit single “Tay B Style”), Skilla always approaches topics from a unique angle.

A protege of hometown hero Sada Baby, Skilla is carving out a lane as one of the Motor City’s most distinct voices. Though just 24 years old, the MC has amassed an impressive body of work, beginning with Push That Shit Out Skilla, his careening debut album from 2019. Three tapes followed in 2022, We Eat the Most, Detroit Raised Me, and Crack Music 2, underlining his reputation as one of the genre's most enthralling and prolific artists.
