She’s paving her own lane and with anthems like her Miss Me Yet..Now deluxe edition now ready for streaming, it’s a no-brainer the ‘24 takeover is happening.
With vocals alongside fellow crooners like Eric Bellinger and Raheem DeVaughn to delivering by herself, it’s all eyes - and ears - on Jastin Martin.
Jastin Martin, the minimalist trap-soul singer-songwriter, producer and emerging soulful voice from Houston, Texas, responds to the multitude of fans who have rallied behind her debut album Miss Me Yet?, with the release of MISS ME YET…NOW? [DELUXE EDITION], available at all DSPs today via Def Jam Recordings. In advance of the Deluxe Edition, the single + visualizer for the brand new song “Mean Well” was delivered in January.
Jastin’s original 10-song album, Miss Me Yet?, which included the breakout title track single “Miss Me Yet?” has now been expanded with a bevy of new material. In addition to “Mean Well,” bonus tracks include “Miss Me Yet”featuring Eric Bellinger; “Up” featuring Sammie; “Do Right” featuring Raheem Devaughn; and “Running From Love.” (Please see track listing below.)
Jastin was featured in the first episode of 2024, of the New York Times Popcast podcast, hosted by Jon Caramanica and Joe Coscarelli. Jon mentions “…it’s low fi… it feels very rhythmic…very minimal…She has a really beautiful voice, she spaces out her words in a way that I find really satisfying…I heard someone doing something so out of character from everything around it, it was hard not to pay attention…and then to add to the fact that I think she’s good. Obviously really exciting.”
Miss Me Yet?, released August 2023, gathered millions of streams, and reams of tastemaker applause. Her hometown Houston Life featured Jastin and praised how “she showcases her vulnerability and versatility as a singer, instrumentalist, and producer.” YouKnowIGotSoul described the album as “ten tracks that demonstrate the unparalleled intimacy of her approach.” AllHipHop put it best, “Clocking in at 10 tracks, the project perfectly showcases her minimalist approach, giving fans a front row seat into her world over evocative instrumentation.”
Critical acclaim was also heaped on “Miss Me Yet?” the title track single. Rated R&B wrote, “Against a twinkling production, Martin sings about being romantically misled after a promising suitor didn’t keep up their end of the deal with doing right by her heart.” CHRON. proclaimed, “Her sound is intimate and minimalist, fusing the vulnerability of rhythm and blues with the smoky cadence of neo soul, the urgent pathos of trap music, and the syncopated rhythms of Afrobeats.” YouKnowIGotSoul hailed the track as “positive and breezy.”
Stay tuned for a whole lot more from Jastin Martin in 2024.
ABOUT JASTIN MARTIN:
Born and raised in Houston, Jastin’s family exposed her to a musical kaleidoscope: Bob Marley and Brooks & Dunn (via her grandfather); Lenny Kravitz and Evanescence (via her mom); and zydeco (via her Louisiana grandmother). By 16, Jastin was making her first studio recordings. At age 20, attending the HBCU Grambling State in Louisiana, Jastin first picked up the guitar and eventually taught herself how to produce.
She began diligently posting original songs online in 2016, building a loyal organic following with her hushed, guitar-lined confessions. Her soft-spoken sultriness and hard-hitting candidness on early breakout tracks “Again” and “Reassurance” struck a chord with new fans. “Again,” for example, was a soulful take-down directed at a lying love interest that she wrote in a mere 30 minutes in her car.
“My writing is so detailed that I wouldn’t have to tell anyone a song is about them – they would know it,” Jastin says. That sincerity graces her posts on Instagram and TikTok, where she deconstructs her songs and offers valuable life advice, too. Whether she’s writing lyrics in her bedroom, at the local park, or figuring out a melody to a guitar loop from her rooftop complex, the process remains intimate, pure and organic.
“I’ll even cry sometimes when I’m just writing and playing my guitar at the park. It’s a feeling of emotion like no other,” she admits. That rawness translates into moody, silky neo-soul that’s as cathartic for her as it is comforting to listeners. “If I’m gonna give something of myself,” Jastin says, “I might as well give all of it.”

Confession? I really love Snoh Aalegra. There’s just something super special about her overall sound and how she delivers her music to the masses. So it’s no surprise her new ‘Sweet Tea’ anthem is just right and sparks an immediate need for her to dish out the song’s origin with Apple Music.

Snoh links with Apple Music 1’s Eddie Francis to discuss her latest single, its origin, linking up with producer No I.D. and her strategy for putting out audio gems. Tap in.
Snoh Aalegra Tells Apple Music About The Origin of “Sweet Tea”…
I wrote it prior to kind of finishing up the production and once it was completed, it just really felt really spiritual in a way. It also has one of my favorite bridges I've ever written, and that bridge really takes me to another place in the song. I work a lot with No I.D. At the time, he was working a lot with Greg Phillinganes and he kept telling me that we should all work and we finally made it happen and I feel like they really brought the song to life. They took it to somewhere else from when I had written it and it was just really special to finish it up with them. And it was just a very special experience being in the studio with both of them… and yeah, he's such an incredible musician and No I.D. really knew where I wanted to take this song. So I thought it was so perfect that we made it with Greg. I feel so much when I hear certain chords and that's just really what this is, all these magical chords that Greg knows how to play.…so we all did it together and it always depends on how a song is made. This one in particular, I had written it prior and then we try to finish it with the music and everything. Sometimes when I work with No I.D. it's like I'm writing to his music, to his beats, so it all comes together differently. But this one was like that, where we were just all in the room and figured it out together and just felt it all together. So it's really special.
Snoh Aalegra Tells Apple Music How She Decides When To Release New Music…
I just love obviously making music, I've been making music my whole life, but I just put out stuff that I'm really proud of and that I want people to hear. So it's just that.I don't like to rush anything or put a timestamp on anything or like, "Oh, I have to put out music." Just, it got to feel right. I can't force it.
