It’s all in the details and geeking out over what’s brewing in the Power universe.
STARZ announced today the development of a new “Power” prequel series, “Origins,” which will continue to explore the “Power” universe in a fresh way, delving into the origin story of fan-favorite characters Ghost and Tommy. This would mark the fourth spinoff of the hugely popular Power series, preceded by “Power Book II: Ghost” which will debut its fourth season in 2024, “Power Book III: Raising Kanan,” which is currently filming its fourth season in New York and “Power Book IV: Force” which is currently filming its third season in Chicago.
“As we approach the 10-year anniversary of Power it is incredible to witness the enormous connection our fans have with the Power universe,” said Kathryn Busby, President of Programming for STARZ. “We can’t wait to see how ‘Origins’ will further evolve this dynamic franchise while bringing fresh, gripping, and expansive storytelling to our audience.”
Sascha Penn is the executive producer for “Origins.” The “Power” Universe series is executive produced by the creator and showrunner of the original “Power,” Courtney A. Kemp through her production company End of Episode, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson through G-Unit Film and Television, and Mark Canton through Canton Entertainment. From everything in the ‘Power’ universe to the much-needed return of series like ‘American Gods’ and ‘P-Valley,’ the latest addition to the line-up is ‘Shining Vale’ and Courteney Cox is out here killing.
With the new series fully launched and not showing any signs of slowing down, the sneak peek from episode three - ‘The Yellow Wallpaper’ - sucks you right into the fun. Peep some details on the series and watch the full clip.
From Jeff Astrof (“Trial & Error,” “Ground Floor”) and Sharon Horgan (“Divorce,” “Catastrophe”), “Shining Vale” tells the story of a dysfunctional family that moves from the city to a small town into a house in which terrible atrocities have taken place. But no one seems to notice except for Pat (Cox), who’s convinced she’s either depressed or possessed – turns out, the symptoms are exactly the same. Kinnear plays her ever-optimistic husband, Terry Phelps, whose patience and self-control will be tested like never before. Mira Sorvino plays Rosemary, who is either Pat’s alter ego, a split personality, her “id”, her muse, or a demon trying to possess her. Judith Light will play “Joan,” Pat's (Cox) Lithium-infused mother, who has long battled mental illness, and her daughter... (who she blames for her mental illness). Joan is vain and hyper-critical, taking any opportunity to recall her prized youth, or belittle Pat. Of all the horrors that Pat faces, becoming Joan is the most frightening -- and most real.
Cox plays the lead role of Patricia “Pat” Phelps, with Kinnear playing her ever-optimistic husband, Terry Phelps, whose patience and self-control will be tested like never before. Mira Sorvino plays Rosemary, who is either Pat’s alter ego, a split personality, her id, her muse, or a demon trying to possess her. Merrin Dungey plays Kam, Pat’s oldest friend and book editor. Gus Birney and Dylan Gage also star as Pat and Terry’s teenage kids, Gaynor and Jake.
“Shining Vale” is executive produced by Jeff Astrof from Other Shoe Productions, Sharon Horgan and Clelia Mountford (“Motherland,” “This Way Up,”) from Merman, Aaron Kaplan (“The Chi,” “The Neighborhood”) and Dana Honor (“A Million Little Things,” “The Unicorn”) from Kapital Entertainment. Courteney Cox is producer. Astrof wrote the pilot teleplay, from a story by Horgan & Astrof. The series is produced by Warner Bros. Television and Lionsgate Television in association with Other Shoe Productions, Merman and Kapital Entertainment.

Need even more reasons to join the STARZ world than ‘Power’ and anything 50 Cent-related? Just look no further than the long-awaited return and revitalization of ‘Party Down’ after what feels like endless years of waiting for season three.
Need even more reasons to join the STARZ world than ‘Power’ and anything 50 Cent-related? Just look no further than the long-awaited return and revitalization of ‘Party Down’ after what feels like endless years of waiting for season three.
To make things even more exciting ahead of its mighty return, STARZ has delivered some major casting news in the form of actress Jennifer Garner, Tyrel Jackson Williams and my personal favorite from The Long Weekend, Zoe Chao.
Check out the full details and stay tuned as teasers, interview clips and more start getting let loose.
STARZ announced today new cast members joining the long-awaited third season of cult hit series “Party Down.” Jennifer Garner (Yes Day, Love, Simon), Tyrel Jackson Williams (Thunder Force, “Brockmire”) and Zoë Chao (“Love Life,” “The Afterparty”) have been cast in series regular roles, and James Marsden (Sonic the Hedgehog, “Dead to Me”) has been added as a recurring guest star.
The new cast members will join the series’ returning original cast previously announced including Adam Scott reprising his role along with original cast members Ken Marino (“Veronica Mars,” Role Models), Jane Lynch (“Glee,” “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”), Martin Starr (Knocked Up, “Silicon Valley”), Ryan Hansen (“Bless this Mess,” “Veronica Mars”) and Megan Mullally (“Will & Grace,” “The Great North”).
Jennifer Garner will play “Evie,” a successful producer of studio franchise movies, who, in the wake of a breakup, is reconsidering her life choices. A fledgling relationship with Henry Pollard (Adam Scott) becomes a way for her to explore possible new directions.
Tyrel Jackson Williams will play “Sackson,” a handsome, confident, driven, wannabe influencer/internet personality. He’s knowledgeable and savvy about his specific internet niche, but a bit lost in every other aspect of life.
Zoë Chao will play “Lucy,” a passionate, outspoken, free-thinking creative “food artist.” Lucy dreams of being a celebrity chef, but she’s stuck cranking out hors d’oeuvres at Party Down without the resources to do anything more ambitious.
James Marsden will play “Jack Botty,” an actor who plays the lead in a popular superhero franchise. Jack's looks match his charm, he enjoys his life, his fame and being the center of everyone's attention.
The cult comedy hit will return with six new episodes and is executive produced by “Party Down” alumni Rob Thomas (“Veronica Mars,” “iZombie”) along with John Enbom (“iZombie,” “Benched,”), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man, Ghostbusters: Afterlife), Dan Etheridge (“Veronica Mars,” iZombie”) and Adam Scott (“Parks and Recreation,” “Big Little Lies”). Enbom also serves as showrunner.
“Party Down” follows a Los Angeles catering team – a sextet of Hollywood wannabes stuck working for tips while hoping for their “big break.” Each episode of this half-hour comedy finds the hapless catering team working a new event – and inevitably getting tangled up with the colorful guests and their absurd lives.
The first two seasons of “Party Down” debuted on STARZ in 2009 and 2010, respectively. Both seasons remain available on STARZ and for download or streaming via the STARZ app.
Executive Vice President of Original Programming Karen Bailey is the executive overseeing “Party Down” on behalf of STARZ. The limited series is produced for STARZ by Lionsgate Television.
