Skyzoo & Chuck D: A couple living rap heavyweights deliver with the 'Courtesy Call'
Anytime rap veteran Skyzoo is serving up? I’m tapped in. But how about adding Public Enemy legend Chuck D to the mix with a hard-hitting ‘Courtesy Call’ gem? Tough.
Anytime rap veteran Skyzoo is serving up? I’m tapped in. But how about adding Public Enemy legend Chuck D to the mix with a hard-hitting ‘Courtesy Call’ gem? Tough.
It’s more than just a fire tune, though. How about preparing for a full-fledged Keep Me Company album arriving in the coming days? Tough. Tough.
After dropping a loosie, “The Workload,” featuring Method Man a few weeks ago, Skyzoo is back with a new single and a new album announcement.
Now, in addition to releasing “Courtesy Call” featuring the legendary Chuck D, Skyzoo has also announced the follow-up to his critically acclaimed, The Mind Of A Saint, as his new album, Keep Me Company, will be released on 11.29.24. “Courtesy Call” is now available at all DSP’s.
“The idea behind “Courtesy Call” came from the energy of the beat itself. The track, produced by The Dagger, out of Michigan, is bare-boned and layered all at once; between the subs and the 808’s going neck and neck with the breakbeat drums. It’s sort of a double entendre in its own right, and the intensity of it led me to write a sparring session over it. As someone known for double-meanings, but also storytelling, it had been a while since I used that multi-layered part of my arsenal to just “rap”; so this was an opportunity to just rhyme relentlessly. The beauty of the record is every single line is at least a double entendre, if not a triple” Skyzoo explains. “For the hook, I had this idea of a grand and boisterous voice to being the “warning” home; and there’s none better than the legendary Chuck D. Over the years, Chuck has been a huge supporter of mine, so we were overdue for a collab—and I am honored to have him on the record with me.”
Skyzoo’s new album, Keep Me Company, will be released on 11.29.24 via FGR Inc./Old Soul Music.

Skyzoo & Method Man: It's audio exercise on display with 'The Workload'
Could you use some lyrical exercise? Look no further than rap veterans Skyzoo and Method Man coming through with a much-needed ‘The Workload’ anthem for the masses.
Could you use some lyrical exercise? Look no further than rap veterans Skyzoo and Method Man coming through with a much-needed ‘The Workload’ anthem for the masses.
It’s pure fire and repeat-mode goals from the New York natives. Kick back and embrace what they’re serving up.
The idea for “The Workload” came after Method Man & Redman’s festival performance this past summer, with the iconic duo putting on a masterclass of hip-hop, but feeling disconnected from the younger generation; due to them not understanding the greatness they were witnessing. When Meth said he was done with a certain demographic, I understood his stance, as me growing a Wu loyalist left me frustrated with how that all played out. Thus, “The Workload” was born.
Using that moment to show the somehow mislead of this era what they’re out of touch with; a legend in the truest sense. It was an honor to craft this record with Meth, putting on a lyrical clinic, all while giving him his flowers in the same breath, Cartune produced the record and when I heard it, the energy of Meth’s post-concert response seemed to fit the tone of the beat. Fast forward a few months later and here we are.
