The weekend is blazing around the Big Apple today and after crashing early last night, what better way to cool off today than watching the broadcast from last night’s Money in the Bank premium showcase? WWE epic moments and a meltdown from superstar Drew McIntyre? Holy smokes.
Who says Attack The Culture doesn’t show big love to the wrestling Culture? From Wale and Westside Gunn to Smoke DZA and many others - there’s an undeniable connection between hip-hop and wrestling and after watching last night’s insane Monday Night Raw? Holy smokes. WWE is looking more like the premium promotion every day one has embraced.
I know, I know but what better way to get pumped about Monday Night Raw than seeing one of the biggest moments from this past weekend’s WrestleMania highlight and dissected? Cody Rhodes winning it all? Nope. How about the storyline with WWE’s Drew McIntyre winning big and losing big within what felt like seconds?
No matter what edition you’re gaming on right now, it’s clear everyone can link up and pair up for all those endless matches courtesy of the newly launched WWE 2K24.
Stronger. Better. You know the rest. Turns out the best one-two punch in professional wrestling don’t even wrestle in the same organizations - but who’s counting? All Elite Wrestling star Buddy Matthews shows a sneak peek of himself and WWE heavyweight Rhea Ripley doing the the opposite of having an off-day in the gym.
Low-key and high-key? The WWE storylines haven’t been hitting for me lately. Blame it on some excellent and wild All Elite Wrestling broadcasts because ESPN is calling my name more these days than the USA Network and Fox broadcasts - but with WWE 2K23 now available, I can control the narrative and totally wild out.
It’s not everyday you get to see WWE’s Asuka going head to head with some fellow superstars. Even better? How about seeing her picture-perfect teeth and tongue going around the world on her pre-Royal Rumble bout mask?
Whether you’re here of the Chyna comparisons or not is not important - what is though? How about the fact Rhea Ripley’s glow up keeps intensifying and seeing her put in work, work, work against WWE’s Akira Tozawa? Holy smokes.
Low-key? I didn’t really latch back onto professional wrestling until about a year ago when Attack The Culture correspondent Ryan Proctor started running his 'This Week In Professional Wrestling’ column and I edited and then ran those articles. Catching a few lines and of course his passion for it convinced me to check in on the programming and long story short? I can handle the hysteria of sports - which feels like its own professional wrestling chaos at times - with the addition of WWE, its NXT affiliate, AEW and even at times Impact Wrestling. Referee Aja Smith makes the passion a little sweeter on a weekly basis.
WWE superstar Sasha Banks knows how to get your attention. The estranged professional wrestler is back on the scene - not the ring - warming up everyone’s day with a sneak peek of herself surrounded in a blue bathtub with flower petals and leaves all around.
It’s a Monday Night Raw evening - plus the Brooklyn Nets pushing to make history with the start of a four-game win series win - and of course wrestling has to be on your mind in some capacity. The culture always salutes some of the legends and seeing this playlist of throwback icons like The Rock and John Cena donning their belts and new designs is pretty mind-blowing.
Okay, technically 10 minutes and 17 seconds, but who's really counting? Whether your love for wrestling dates back to the old, old, old days or if you just know a few names like John Cena, The Rock and Steve Austin, WrestleMania is essentially the Super Bowl of the genre and Sunday night’s line-up was insane fun.
