Bakar's putting London on the map with 'NW3'
Just to keep it 100, London has been hot well before even ‘Top Boy’ became a global must-see. However, what Bakar is bringing to the music biz is growing and his newly released ‘NW3’ is must-see material, too.
The video hits hard and showcases the North London artist’s talent as the visual to his standout Nobody’s Home single. Check out the details plus touring news and keep scrolling to see the video.
On Nobody’s Home, which received attention from The Guardian, Billboard, FADER, HYPEBEAST, UPROXX, and more, Bakar explores his newfound connection to his own heritage, his Islamic faith, and a notion of the "Future Immigrant". Channeling these themes, the “NW3” visual, directed by Machine Operated utilizes candid shots of Bakar’s life in London to portray his experience in the city through his own unique lens.
Contrasting with his recent video for “Free,” the video for “NW3” depicts the London artist in a more approachable, human light. Since the inception of his musical career, Bakar has been focused on broadening the understanding about the different experiences in pop culture: “I’ve always been here to be an alternative for the Black kids that don’t fit in.” The “NW3” video allows these kids to see that beyond the fame and glamor, he lives a life not too different from their own.
Bakar has been busy having recently come off the release of Nobody’s Home and gearing up for his 2022 Tour. Beyond music, he continues to support underrepresented creatives, having recently announced a limited edition CD designed by the late Virgil Abloh with all proceeds benefiting Abloh’s “Post-Modern” scholarship fund. Additionally, Bakar has announced Yeek will support all US tour dates, and a second Los Angeles date has been added to his U.S. tour due to popular demand, which kicks off April 27th in Seattle at the Neptune Theater.
