Dave East: It's international flexing and fancy living in the 'Rich Problems' music video

It’s true - New York rap heavyweight Dave East has gone Hollywood with the acting but his true love will always be penning hard-hitting lyrics. So of course it’s vital to see his glow and flex in the new ‘Rich Problems’ music video.

The visual captures your attention from start to finish as he packs his bags from his Harlem roots and surrounding neighborhoods to post up from overseas. Peep the details and keep scrolling to see Dave’s cinematic clip.

GRAMMY® Award-nominated gold-selling Harlem rap phenomenon, model, actor, and storyteller Dave East returns with an infectious new single and music video entitled “Rich Problems” out now via Def Jam Recordings.

The track entangles bright piano with orchestral samples, building a bold backdrop. Over this soundscape, Dave ponders the duality of success, the game, and life itself. He confesses, “Think I’m always in a good mood, you see me smiling, little devil on my shoulder and he wildin’,” before lamenting “Bank account great, my homies dying.” Amidst this lyrical push-and-pull, he lives up to the prescient promise, “Fuck ‘viral’, this flow a virus.” The accompanying visual finds him in Abu Dhabi. He pulls up in a baby blue McClaren and raps his truth to the camera in between sweeping vistas of the city’s beauty surrounding him.

It serves as an epic opening statement for his next chapter as he preps more music for release very soon.

In 2019, his full-length debut album, Survival, reached the Top 15 of the Billboard 200, marked his third Top 10 entry on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums Chart, and boasted collaborations with Nas, Gunna, Lil Baby, Rick Ross, The-Dream, and more.

A year later, Karma 3 continued his hot streak, boasting his most-streamed single to date “Handsome” and picking up acclaim from NME, Office, Billboard, Clash, and more. Along the way, he also linked with Styles P, Harry Fraud, and DJ Drama for projects. Shining on screen, his filmography spans roles in Being Mary Jane, The Breaks, and Wu Tang: An American Saga. 2023 saw him level up again when he garnered a GRAMMY® Award nomination for his appearance on “Rent Money”from Mary J. Blige’s Good Morning Gorgeous. However, Dave East kicks off his boldest, brightest, and biggest era yet in 2023 with more music and the next chapter of his unbelievable story.
