JAWNY: The 'Running' music video is as chill and fun as the song
Want a change in your go-to playlists? Look no further than what crooner JAWNY is serving up these days with anthems like ‘Running’ and of course its accompanied music video.
It’s all types of intriguing and animated flexing from start to finish. Get caught up in the fun.
The critically acclaimed JAWNY releases his propulsive new single “Running” today, the second since his widely beloved debut album, It’s Never Fair, Always True. Following the jaunty, whimsical “Boy Scout”, “Running” is a head-bopping yet solemn groove, and a mellow reflection on past regrets. “Running” is available now at all digital retailers via Interscope Records and accompanied by a video which can be found HERE.
Co-written and produced by JAWNY and Jamie Sierota, “Running” dips into the usual psychedelic rock tune but with an introspective look backwards, expanding JAWNY’s already varied and accomplished alt-pop catalogue. In “Running,” JAWNY ruminates on past friendships in this anthematic reflection of actions and consequences. In the video, directed by Liam Archibald, the kaleidoscopic rhythm is visualized by riffs of Archibald’s signature animation style, a surrealist technicolor dream.
After his jam-packed headline tour around North America and Europe, JAWNY is entering 2024 firing on all creative cylinders. Just as experimental as “Boy Scout” but with an altogether separate style, vocals, and theme, “Running” is a heartfelt contribution to JAWNY’s repertoire. In affirmation of JAWNY’s accomplishments, “Running” was synced to Season 8 of HBO’s Hard Knocks: In Season with the Miami Dolphins.
About JAWNY:
With over 1 billion streams globally, JAWNY has built his career by intuition, letting his music evolve naturally as he grows personally. Instead of chasing the high of past successes—including his 2019 Gold-certified and Diamond-certified (Mexico/AMPROFON) hit, “Honeypie” —he’s following his gut and tapping into a childlike wonder that’s wide-eyed and widescreen in vision. Born Jacob Sullenger in the Bay Area, and raised in Philadelphia, JAWNY first picked up a guitar at age 6 after watching his dad jam to the Grateful Dead, Pink Floyd, and Led Zeppelin. At 13, he began making beats with his brother, eventually landing placements with rappers on SoundCloud. In his early 20s, he started writing his own songs, and gained buzz with his 2018 debut EP under the name Johnny Utah, landing placements on critically acclaimed shows like the HBO series, High Maintenance. JAWNY followed that up with a handful of buzzworthy singles, including “Honeypie,” that landed on a number of tastemaker playlists and garnered millions of streams. In 2020, JAWNY signed to Interscope Records and soon released a pair of vibrant, critically acclaimed projects, For Abby and The Story of Hugo, which further showcased his sharp storytelling and sonic experimentation and put him front and center covering notable playlist covers around the world. Upon releasing The Story of Hugo, JAWNY headlined a US tour, selling out shows across the country, and was selected as one of Vevo DSCVR’s Artists To Watch 2022. With all those career highs under his belt, JAWNY remained steadfastly in the moment, reaching a wider audience with the release of his 2023 debut album, It’s Never Fair, Always True.
