Jru Anthony's Greenlight music video keeps summer love brewing

R&B singer Jru Anthony doesn’t play around with the wordplay so it’s only natural to expect his ‘Greenlight’ music video to hit extra hard. The visual comes through clutch in the final weeks of summer keeping the love and happiness going strong.

The Washington, DC native’s newest anthem is pure digital flames and sets the tone for what’s to come when his Life For Now album arrives in mid-September.

Rising soul/R&B singer Jru Anthony has just released the single and video for his “Greenlight” song. The cut from the Washington, D.C.-born and raised artist is already earning rave reviews and is receiving early spins at 93.9 WKYS in D.C.

“I love this song,” raves Mike “Swift” Powell, Program Director at 93.9 WKYS. “I’ve played it five times in a row.

The smooth, sensual “Greenlight” is the lead single from Jru Anthony’s forthcoming Life For Now LP. Slated for a September 23 release, the funky, mesmerizing collection traverses psychedelic soul and is entirely self-produced by Jru Anthony, who is just 19-years-old.

“I was like, ‘This is my life right now, but it’s not going to be my life five, six months from now, or even a year from now,’” Jru Antony says of constructing Life For Now. “I was being optimistic and looking forward. I’m also looking at it as like my life will be great when this album comes out, when my dreams start to come true.

Beyond “Greenlight,” other Life For Now selections include the propulsive “97 Chevy,” the pulsating “Move On,” the uptempo “See You,” and the funk-drenched title track. Throughout the project, Jru Anthony explores the emotional highs and lows of life and relationships. It marks a strikingly mature album from an artist yet to enter his 20s.

“I know a lot of people have gone through some of the same things, so I just wanted a place for people to feel like they have somebody else to talk to,” Jru Anthony says. “It’s like a therapy album for me, and for everybody else.”
