Lelo: The ‘Main Event’ music video demands your full attention
Detroit in the building? You better believe it. It’s all about what rap artist Lelo is bringing to The Culture and it’s stirring with the ‘Main Event’ music video.
The song goes too hard with my forever crush Sade’s ‘Is it a crime’ sampled and the black and white cinematic flex? Beyond fire. Lose yourself in the visual statement.
On the heels of releasing his video for "Real Dogshit" and new EP When It's Over, Detroit rapper Lelo has just shared his new video single "Main Event" –– out now via 10K Projects. "Main Event" features a silky sample from R&B royalty Sade woven together with groove-setting drums and Lelo's conspicuous delivery. The New Detroit rapper fans his feathers across the lustrous production, landing a balance between boasting and reminiscing. A "Main Event" snippet was shared on TikTok and has since become an extremely anticipated release with unrelenting demands from Lelo's fanbase. "Main Event" follows a recent cosign from Pi'erre Bourne, an On The Radar performance, and a string of releases including breakthrough anthem "No contempt" (20M+ Streams), the Tokyo-shot "Evangelion", and "Real Dogshit". His recent EP When It's Over is a triumphant showcase of Lelo's gritty, trap-infused style, blending the uptempo instrumentals, booming 808s, and dark piano chords that have quickly become synonymous with the new Detroit sound he's proudly carrying the torch for.
After turning heads in the Detroit regional scene for singles like "Hughes" (2.4M+ Streams) and "Daybreakers", Lelo released his long-anticipated debut project Nightingale last spring and has since garnered attention for standalone releases like his viral single "No contempt", "Limbless" (3.6M+ Streams), "Yoppenheimer" (2.6M+ Streams), as well as his four-track EP LifeAfterDogShit. Recent months have also seen him perform in front of a sold-out crowd at Bktherula, skaiwater, and Yhapojj's Detroit tour stop and earn co-signs from the likes of LUCKI and Brent Faiyaz. This February Lelois set to open for OsmaSon at Don Quixote in Los Angeles.
