Naliya's completely 'Detached' and embraces it in her new music video

Need a little pop to make you drop? Just rely on what singer Naliya is bringing to the culture. A little fun, a little emotion and lots of buzz in her sounds coming courtesy of her new single and music video ‘Detached.’

You know the routine. Peep the details and keep scrolling to see Naliya in her music bag.

Rising singer, songwriter, and producer Naliya shares official music video for her vulnerable record “Detached” today. Released earlier this year, the song exposes Naliya’s softer side with touches of silky electro-R&B vocals and production. Today’s official video matches that energy shifting between dreamy vignettes of the Canadian talent and kaleidoscopic visuals to showcase the multi-layered feelings expressed throughout the song.

“Detached” is heavy in meaning yet light and airy in feeling. “The song is about being with somebody, but not being fully present with them,” Naliya explains. Her lyrics are straightforward and self-aware as she lays out an all-too-familiar question. “How am I supposed to know if you’re the one yet?” she sings over a stirring keyboard line. With help from co-writer and co-producer Nick Sarazen, Naliya holds space for every word and sound, building from a minimalist groove from minimalist to a multi-layered arrangement, giving as much weight to her hypnotic beats as her honeyed vocals.

“Detached” shows Naliya’s growing confidence and versatility as both a singer and producer, following a definitive year that included her Interscope debut, “Handshakes,” along with electro-pop gems “Roller Coaster,” “Whatever,” and “Le Ciel”—all of which have received critical praise, including a feature in UPROXX’s “Best New Pop Music This Week” roundup. With singles as vibrant and varied as these, she’s demonstrating that she’s quickly developed one of pop’s most flexible and vulnerable voices.

Want to know more about Naliya? Of course you do.

Naliya personally touches every element of her music. Behind a desk running Ableton Live by herself, she’ll conjure up a beat before picking up a pen to write lyrics and finally grabbing a microphone to bring the production and words to life. Raised between Canada and France, the Los Angeles-based singer, songwriter, and producer architects an unfiltered and undeniable take on pop warmed by handcrafted beats and lyrics so intimate they could be a DM.

During a Shark Tank-style Instagram Live hosted by powerhouse songwriter J Kash [Maroon 5, Charlie Puth, Selena Gomez], she shared a composition and landed a deal. With Kash in her corner, she co-wrote Jason Derulo’s “Lifestyle” [feat. Adam Levine] and Tate McRae’s “Rubberband.” After amassing nearly 6 million streams independently and quietly cooking up songs for industry heavyweights, she formally introduces herself on a series of singles and her forthcoming debut EP to be released via Immersive / Sandlot / Interscope Records.
