Quin NFN: The 'Just Getting By, Pt. 2' music video makes the Allstate Mayhem Insurance Guy look weak

In all fairness, I have endless love for ‘Allstate Mayhem Insurance Guy’ a.k.a. Dean Winters - like, that’s ‘O’Reilly’ to me - IYKYK - but seeing how rap artist Quin NFN is taking the same motivation and flipping it with the hard-hitting ‘Just Getting By, Pt. 2’ music video? Beyond tough.

It’s a wild start to the music video and the fierce lyrics and confidence keep going just over two minutes in length. Embrace the cinematic flex.

Paving his own way in the Austin music scene, Quin NFN is changing the narrative around Texas rap. Ready to show off his prodigious pen game, the 23-year-old rapper announces Second To None, his upcoming album. The upcoming project is a relentless effort, offering 16 no-frills bangers that put a spotlight on the rising star’s playful wordplay and slick delivery, as he establishes his head honcho status in the streets. The album is a triumphant moment arriving after a year of personal hardship for Quin, marked by health scares that affected him and his young family. Featuring guest spots from heavy-hitters like That Mexican OT03 Greedo, and Sauce Walka plus crisp production from Getta Beats, ForeveRollin, Cio Made The Track, and more, Second To None arrives on July 19th via EMPIRE

Along with the album announcement, Quin NFN shares “Just Getting By, Pt. 2,” a single from the project. A sequel to his hit 2023 track “Just Getting By” (1.8M YouTube views), “Just Getting By, Pt. 2” builds on the themes of the original track, finding Quin recounting tales of life in the streets over eerie synths and emphatic drums: “These the same n****s that slept on my cap / I really built this sh*t up from the floor /  Tryna see where I go imma change up the rap / I thought my bro really far from a rat, but he still chasin’ cheese in the trap.” In the video, Quin shows off how far he’s come, rapping outside a scenic pool and driving around in a G-Wagon.

“Just Getting By, Pt. 2” and Second To None are the opening salvos in a big year for Quin NFN. After learning how to rhyme in his youth by studying the greats like Lil Wayne, the Austin native first drew attention in 2019 when he was just a teenager, making a name for himself in a city known more for other genres than hip-hop. Quin's talent was undeniable, though, as demonstrated in the thumping, minimalist banger "Talkin My Sh*t" (33+ million Spotify streams), and he quickly became one of the fastest-rising stars in his state. He kept the momentum going with "Poles," a ferocious collaboration with NLE Choppa (44+ million Spotify streams), and 2021's "Laid Back" (31+ million Spotify streams), and earned a deal with 10K Projects. In 2023, Quin started a new chapter of his career as an independent artist, releasing the album Never On Time via EMPIRE and his own NFN Entertainment

With Second To None on the way and a chip on his shoulder, Quin NFN is ready to reach the next level. Stay tuned for more.
