SCY Jimm: Forget the ABCs, it's all about hard-hitting truths in the 'A-Z' music video

While this might not slap on ‘Sesame Street,’ it’s clear the streets are messing with SCY Jimm these days and anthems like ‘A-Z’ playing? Super tough.

It’s more than just the audio fire though. Getting the camera rolling and going hard with the cinematic appeal? Absolutely. Get caught up in the visual glow.

After breaking through last year with his debut tape ROOKIE OF THE YEAR, which was highlighted by collaborations with fellow fire Floridians like Luh Tyler, Goldenboy Countup and Wizz Havinn –– Jimm has experienced some tragic life events. Detailed in a two-pack of singles earlier this year: “In Too Deep" & "Wrecked the Cat”, Jimm was the target of a shooting in his home base of Daytona Beach earlier this year, which he thankfully survived and is recovering from, and a few months ago he was in a dangerous car accident, wrecking his newly bought Hellcat from QC label boss Pee.

Through it all, he's been continuing to release new music and elevate his storytelling abilities – on Highly Favored, he's working through these harrowing situations, showing how they've made him even more determined to stick to his craft, which he uses as a form of therapy.

Quality Control’s SCY Jimm is a 22-year-old artist from the small town of Bunnell, Florida. Despite not being from a major city and only rapping for the past three years, SCY Jimm has already amassed over 20M total streams – quickly emerging as not only one of his state’s newest stars, but also as a key player in Florida’s sprawling Hip-Hop scene.

Between 2020 and 2021, SCY Jimm released three projects, leading up to the breakthrough release of his ROOKIE OF THE YEAR mixtape in 2022, which included successful singles like "BALLIN" (2.1M Streams) & "HAVING MOTION” (1.4M Streams) featuring fellow Florida rapper Wizz Havinn, and was successful in reaching Jimm’s ambitious goal of uniting artists from different hoods across the state on a single project. SCY Jimm continued his winning streak into 2023 with his signing to QC & his subsequent debut mixtape with the label, Trench Baby, which garnered over 2M Streams in its first week of release thanks to singles like "Took a Risk" (1.3M Streams) and "Vision Blurry".

With co-signs from some of the biggest artists in the game such as Lil BabyRod Wave and frequent collaborator Luh Tyler, whose debut project contains a standout regional track featuring both SCY Jimm & Wizz Havinn, Jimm’s witty punchlines and bold persona have set him up to have his biggest year yet in 2023. The young superstar on the rise has received critical acclaim from PitchforkHipHopDX, and Dirty Glove Bastard, appeared on The Danza Project PodcastSniper Cypher and Power 106.1, and is fresh off of making his major festival performance debut at Rolling Loud Miami last month. Ever since the release of April’s Trench BabySCY Jimm has been consistently contributing to his red-hot momentum through a slew of singles that includes “Set In Stone”“Selling Slabs” and “Check”, as well as the deeply introspective two-pack of singles, "In Too Deep" & "Wrecked the Cat" – responses to recent real-life adversities that Jimm has faced. Amidst it all, SCY Jimm’s focus remains on elevating his career & continuing to drop meaningful music while carrying his city on his back.
