DJ Green Lantern: 7xvethegenius and Conway The Machine connect in 'Brainstorming' visualizer

The Evil Genius is back-back, seriously! The legendary DJ Green Lantern puts 7xvethegenius alongside fellow New York rap heavyweight Conway The Machine for their ‘Brainstorming’ visualizer.

The Evil Genius is back-back, seriously! The legendary DJ Green Lantern puts 7xvethegenius alongside fellow New York rap heavyweight Conway The Machine for their ‘Brainstorming’ visualizer.

The song hits hard but nothing is better than a full-fledged visual, right? Peep the details and keep scrolling to see the visual tease.

When she appeared on Conway The Machine’s “Crack In The Ninety’s” from his From King To A GOD Deluxe project, it served for many as a formal introduction to the lyrical dynamo and multi-faceted artist known as 7xvethegenius.  The intrigue was furthered when Conway brought her out to perform on Tidal’s exclusive Griselda Holiday Concert.

Born in Buffalo, NY’s Eastside (she also has a deep connection with Atlanta’s music scene, as she spent most of her young adult life in the area before relocating to Buffalo in 2018) 7xve is now an integral component of Conway’s Drumwork Records imprint; and her buzz only continues to intensify.  Over the last year, 7xve has released a well-received EP (Self 7Xve 2), linked up with frequent collaborator Che Noir for “Ladies Brunch” (which also featured Armani Caesar) and "Veracruz" from Che’s recently released Noir Or Never, released an “On The Radar” Freestyle Single and linked with her Drumwork squad for standout performances on Conway & Jae Skeese’s Pain Provided Profit (“Food”) and most recently the title track for Conway’s Won’t He Do It album.

Now that the rising emcee has your attention, and before she releases her Drumwork Records debut this summer, 7xvethegenius joins forces with DJ Green Lantern and puts her talents as an artist and storyteller on full-display with their forthcoming collaborative drop The Genius Tape.

Produced in its entirety by DJ Green Lantern, The Genius Tape, will be released on 6-9-23 and features appearances from Conway The Machine, Rome Streetz, Che Noir, AA Rashid & TF.

Today, in addition to announcing their new project, the duo released the project’s first single, “Brainstorming,” which features Conway The Machine.  “Brainstorming” is now available at all DSP’s.

“Brainstorming” is literally a collective of our thoughts.  I told Con I just wanted to float on this record and calmly pop our shit in an elegant way” 7xvethegenius declares.  “The chemistry we have together is easy and effortless.  After how crazy the responses to “Won’t He Do It’ were, I thought it was only right we continue to set the tone with this record.”

7xvethegenius & DJ Green Lantern’s The Genius Tape will be released on 6-9-23

It’s Griselda vibes forever around these parts whenever Conway The Machine and Westside Gunn connect. The duo link up for their new ‘Quarters/Brucifix’ music video and it’s just pure cinematic flexing from start to finish.

It’s more than just one location for the visual too and if you look close enough, you can’t miss Wale turning up with the guys. Peep the details and keep scrolling to see the action.

The road to Conway The Machine’s major label Shady/Interscope Records debut, God Don’t Make Mistakes, was undeniably impactful and incredibly redemptive.  Universally hailed by critics and fans alike, the album was also his commercial breakthrough, as God Don’t Make Mistakes rose to the top of DSP charts and was also his highest-charting Billboard project to date.

While God Don’t Make Mistakes was Conway’s de-facto origin story, it will also serve as the bridge to the next phase of his already decorated career; which begins with his next album Won’t He Do It

After sharing the album’s first single, “Super Bowl,” which featured Sauce Walka and Juicy J, Conway The Machine releases Won’t He Do It’s second single and first visual “Quarters/Brucifix” featuring Westside Gunn.  Filmed on location in Paris, the dual single features production from Khrysis on “Quarters,” (which also includes a vocal clip from the late Combat Jack—RIP) along with the Westside Gunn assisted, and Daringer produced “Brucifix.”

In addition to the release of Won’t He Do It’s second single. Conway also announced the Won’t He Do It Spring Tour featuring Sauce Walka and his fellow Drumwork artist Jae Skeese, which will touch down in 18 cities starting on 5-26 in Chicago.  You can visit Conway’s digital HQ for all corresponding tour dates.

“I wanted to tap back in with my bro, Khrysis, and give em that feel that my fans know me for providing” Conway commented to Complex.  I also wanted to set the tone for my new album.”

New York rapper Benny The Butcher has plenty to talk about these days. Notably? How about the unexpected departure of Conway The Machine from being signed or under contract with Griselda. The hip-hop heavyweight chop it up with Apple Music 1’s Ebro Darden.

Check out some sneak peeks from the interview and gear up for the full chop up session at 12 PM PT/3 PM ET.

"I’m gonna break something down for you… We’re going to always be crew…I don't think Conway is still signed to Griselda, but that's “signed" to Griselda. He's going to always be Griselda. And no, West is the sole owner of that. I think that's one of the big misconceptions is that they own it together. But that's West's baby. Like Conway tell you if West own a building, he did the construction type of thing…”

"It ain’t nothing to even trip off, for real. I don’t know what’s going on… everybody just doing so much man, just on the individual side that we don’t really kinda be having the time to really connect all the time and link. We don’t all live in the same city no more, we don’t really hang out and do s**t no more, see each so all these conversations we don’t necessarily get to have all the time."

The rap game is in perfectly fine hands thanks to help from artists like Jae Skeese coming through with both audio fire and stunning visuals. The hip-hop artist takes his ‘Against Tha Grain’ up a notch by sharing its music video to the masses with help from guest features Conway The Machine and Flee Lord.

As we always do around this time, check out the details and keep scrolling to watch the trio at work.

Currently on the road with Conway The Machine for his Love Will Get You Killed Tour, Jae Skeese is one of the first signees to Conway The Machine’s Drumwork Music Group imprint, and he is currently finishing his debut project, Abolished Uncertainties, for the label; which will be executive produced by Conway.

After appearing on two songs from the deluxe version of Conway The Machine’s From King To A GOD, and the first single, “Blood Roses,” from La Maquina, Jae Skeese continued his ascent by not only appearing (“Drumwork” with fellow signee 7xvethegenius) on Conway’s Shady Records debut album God Don’t Make Mistakes but also by contributing to the album’s rollout, as Skeese murked two different freestyles alongside Conway on Bootleg Kev and LA Leakers.

Today, Jae Skeese presents a visual for his new single “Against Tha Grain” and is joined by Conway The Machine and Flee Lord.  “Against Tha Grain” is the first single from Skeese’s forthcoming Iroquois Pliskin EP, which will be released this spring.  The video for “Against Tha Grain” was premiered by Complex.

The EP’s title, Iroquois Pliskin, is inspired by one of Metal Gear Solid’s main characters, Solid Snake, aliases as Skeese continues to draw inspiration from the game’s characters and artwork for his projects.

“Before I release my official Drumwork debut project, I wanted to give fans a project to hold them over and to feel more connected.  With Iroquois Pliskin, I get a little more into my story and I feel fans will love it for that reason” Skeese commented to Complex.  “Being vulnerable hasn’t always been the easiest thing for me, but it’s essential for my growth as an artist.    It’s time to get people in tune with my sound and message.”

Conway The Machine goes through the emotions in 'Stressed'

New York rapper Conway The Machine is staying extra busy with his new God Don’t Make Mistakes studio album. The hip-hop heavyweight comes through with the visual treatment to standout banger ‘Stressed’ clocking in at nearly six minutes and packed with emotion.

New York rapper Conway The Machine is staying extra busy with his new God Don’t Make Mistakes studio album. The hip-hop heavyweight comes through with the visual treatment to standout banger ‘Stressed’ clocking in at nearly six minutes and packed with emotion.

From the opening sequence to getting a reminder of how close Conway came to his own death, the video is an emotional rollercoaster. Peep some details and check out the full visual.

The road to Conway The Machine’s Shady Records major-label debut album has been eventful and incredibly redemptive.  Along that long and winding path, many things were learned, chiefly among them was that to touch souls, you must first reveal your own and that is exactly what Conway achieved with God Don’t Make Mistakes.

In sharing his story with the world, Conway broke down his own barriers and because of that candidness, God Don’t Make Mistakes displays him in an entirely different light.  Vulnerable and reflective; Conway supplied his fans with a mirror into his life.  God Don’t Make Mistakes is an honest and real accounting of a man wrestling with his own demons and inner-turmoil.

“Do anyone care that I’m stressed”?  Perhaps, no one track from God Don’t Make Mistakes accentuates that window into his soul better than “Stressed.”  Conway touches on his cousin’s suicide, childhood abuse, the loss of his infant son, addiction, trauma, and the debilitating Bells Palsy diagnosis that he has suffered from since being shot in the head; and that almost killed him.

Now, Conway has released the visual for “Stressed” and its 5-minutes of free therapy that serves as a reminder to check on your strong friends.

God Don’t Make Mistakes is now available at all DSP’s and features appearances and production from Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, Benny The Butcher, Westside Gunn, Jill Scott, T.I., Beanie Sigel, Hit-Boy, The Alchemist, Daringer, Beat Butcha, Bink, J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League, Novel, Keisha Plum, Cosmo Beats and Conway’s Drumwork label artists Jae Skeese and 7xvethegenius.
