New music Friday? You better believe it. Rap slinger J.I.D. is back-back with his first official single of the new year courtesy of his ‘Surround Sound’ anthem.

It’s not just a new anthem, J.I. comes through with help from 21 Savage and Baby Tate with a must-see new music video. Peep details connected to the release below and keep scrolling to see the visual greatness.

Grammy nominated rapper, J.I.D has returned with a blockbuster single titled “Surround Sound” featuring fellow Atlanta heroes 21 Savage and Baby Tate. Produced by Christo and DJ Scheme, “Surround Sound” hits all the markers of what broke the Atlanta rapper on the scene initially — a chokehold of ‘the pen’ and talent for rapid fire word play which if not paid attention to can go over one’s head. The track also breaks down at the 2:29 mark for a flow switch up — another J.I.D specialty — allowing room for the Dreamville artist to be braggadocious. The song came accompanied by a Mac Grant and Chad Tennies directed music video that perfectly spotlights all three artists at the forefront of their verse.

The song release comes at the heels of J.I.D being included on the Coachella lineup for 2022. This will be his debut Coachella performance.

If you’re still getting familiar with what J.I.D. is all about, check out more details on the instant hitmaker.

Signed to Dreamville/Interscope Records, J.I.D has been teasing the release of his next project while also reaping the rewards of his many collaborative tracks. Recent collab with Imagine Dragons “ENEMY” (title song for Netflix series Arcane League of Legends) is currently in the top 10 of Billboard Global 200 while climbing up the Billboard Hot 100 charts (currently #48). “ENEMY” has racked up a cumulative 151 million views on Youtube, seeing a spike after the group performed the song live on the MTV Europe Music Awards (watch here). Alongside this, J.I.D has been busy collaborating with peers from across genres lending his rap stylings for Grammy nominated project Planet Her by Doja Cat (“Options”) as well as the likes of Dua Lipa (“Not My Problem”), Khalid (“All I Feel Is Rain”), James Blake (“Frozen”) and more.

If you haven’t - pause this video, open up a fresh tab because we don’t want to lose you, listen/watch and come back - we’ll wait. Great - all caught up?

Cole completely bodied Drake’s “Pipe Down” record and it’s almost not even fair. How in the world do you take such a sultry and chill Drizzy anthem and body it - how Cole, how? (Fast-forward the must-see video and millions of views.)

Turns out Drake is a big-big fan of this anthem. The 6 God plugged the banger going to his Instagram page and captioning, “Cole on smoke, smoke emoji, Heavens EP” A little insane Drake’s promo post received more views than J’s actual video, but we can talk about it later.

Is it only right Cole is back-back with audio fire? Drake’s Certified Lover Boy is doing big things, Kendrick Lamar’s final Top Dawg Entertainment album is on deck and while Cole put out his The Off-Season in May, it feels only right he drops some heat to keep up. He even raps about taking bronze behind Drizzy and K. Dot. More to come or is this a one and done?
