Today, emerging singer-songwriter and artist Tempest returns with her second single of the year, “So Gone,” featuring friend, frequent collaborator, and co-writer Naomi Wild. The unforgiving track offers listeners a glimpse at Tempest’s artistic versatility and finds her unabashedly meditating on the pain and confusion of being ghosted in a situationship. “So Gone” touches on complex emotion and is bookended by creative production as it kicks off with a lush R&B sound. The single effortlessly weaves into an alt-tinged mood as it combines airy guitar chords and indie-funk. Laying the ground for Tempest and Wild’s captivating switch-up, it transports listeners into a deeper realm via cool, authentic, unrefined, and dynamic storytelling.
Coinciding with the single’s release is the cinematic visual directed by Lakewood Mall. The video features rising New Zealand artist TAPZ GALLANTINO as Tempest’s love interest. It brings to life the song’s poignant feel as it depicts an emotional quest where despite his best ghosting efforts, he’s unable to escape her presence.
Speaking on the track, Tempest shares: “‘So Gone’ is showing the different perspectives that we might have when it comes to being ghosted. The first part of the song explains how much a waste of time that person was. While the second half of the song shows vulnerability towards the situation.”
Tempest continues to collaborate with fellow rising artists. Her latest collaboration with Zyah Belle for “Not The One” has resulted in press praise from VICE, UPROXX, Rated RnB, and more. “So Gone” is a continuation of Tempest’s ethos of love, empowerment, and self-awareness, that finds the rising artist leaning into her acoustic sound, enmeshed with a refreshed alt-R&B vibe. Today, Los Angeles singer-songwriter Naomi Wild released her third single, “YOU + I”, off her forthcoming debut album. The R&B-tinged ballad delves into Wild’s emotions as she expresses the deep-seated pain, remorse, and frustrations that follow unrequited love. Paired with a moving lo-fi visualizer, “YOU + I” depicts the undoing of a relationship and offers listeners a glimpse of what’s to come from Wild later this year. Remaining authentic, self-aware, honest, and vulnerable, Wild delivers a poignant heartfelt story via rich honey-soaked vocals as she turns pain into triumph.
Speaking on the track, Wild shares: “I wrote this song over two years ago during one of the worst months of my life - I was just in such a unique space mentally that I’d never been before. It was dark and unpredictable, like uncharted territory. Around that same time, I also got played pretty badly, so I just decided to talk my shit on the chord progression we built and ended up really loving it. I don’t even really remember writing many of the lyrics; it just kind of poured out of me, and I followed the feeling. That’s the best when that happens - felt like I was just floating on the track. It was honest- like directly from the subconscious.“
Today’s news arrives just before Wild joins Grammy-nominated electronic duo ODESZA on their North American amphitheater tour. Where she will be sharing the stage with San Holo, Elderbrook, Ben Bohmer, Tourist, Drama, and more on select dates. The Last Goodbye Tour kicks off in the duo’s hometown Seattle on Friday, July 29th, and is followed by stops in New York, Philadelphia, Toronto, Boston, Chicago, San Francisco, and more (full tour dates and ticket info below).
