Genre-defying Grammy and Emmy-nominated Jamaican artist Tessellated adds another page to his growing musical catalog today with the release of the new single "Contact (One Drop)" via Independent. Produced by Tessellated and fellow Jamaican producer duo Circa 11, "Contact (One Drop)" tells the tale of an instantly lovestruck man, while a richly guitar-driven one drop reggae riddim supports his sentiments:

"'Contact' is really about a woman who is so special that from the first time you meet them, they’re in your head non-stop," elaborated Tess. "The inspiration really came from a mixture of different women I’ve met in my life."
Tessellated simultaneously released the official visuals for "Contact (One Drop)" on his YouTube channel. Directed by the artist himself, the one-take video catches the multitalented 24-year old walking through his lush Stony Hill neighborhood while interacting with various memorable characters along the way.
"I feel like so many videos feel the need to be extremely topical and it leads to us seeing the same thing over & over again," explained Tess. He went on, "for this video, I wanted it to be loosely related but also have a bit of a narrative and comical feel. To me, it adds a layer where the video itself is a piece of art separate from the song rather than just something to go along with it. Everyone in the video is a friend of mine as well so it was fun to allow them to each have a highlight moment of their own & add to the story.
"Contact (One Drop)" follows the release of Tessellated's critically-acclaimed 2020 debut EP Tropics Vol. 1. Since then, Tess has stayed busy writing and recording a string of upcoming singles, producing for the likes of international superstars Shaggy and Spice, and performing at major industry happenings like SXSW and Coachella.
With influences that span from jazz to R&B to hip hop, and a foundation in his island’s native reggae and dancehall, Tessellated’s artistry reaches far beyond his Jamaican roots. His ear for music lends itself to experimentation with different soundscapes, and his releases so far attest to his worldwide appeal. He made major waves in 2018 with “Pine and Ginger,” drumming up over 22 million total streams to date and landing on the pages of major media outlets like Pitchfork, The FADER, and High Snobiety, among others. Tess’ breakout 2019 hit “I Learnt Some Jazz Today” marched to the top of the Billboard Jazz charts and earned a major sync placement with tech giant Apple for their promotional film Bounce, eventually leading to the Grammy and Emmy nominations.
