Apple TV+'s Luck is a low-key Date Night animated gem
It’s not Sausage Party and that’s OK. Apple TV+’s Luck comes through to take over the animated space previously reserved by the you-know-who camp in a just-under-two-hours thrill ride putting together a great cast, a few musical moments and plenty of laughter to enjoy with bae - especially if emotions romantically heat up and the urge to finish it with the kids over the weekend becomes the go-to option.
For starters, the reason this movie works well if you’re going to rely on the romantic route is due to the cast of notable voices. Whether we’re talking about Jane Fonda and Whoopi Goldberg or everyone’s favorite Hollywood funnyman Lil Rel Howery, you’re going to have a few moments whispering, ‘Oh, that’s so-and-so.’ Which is always great to break long periods of observing during movies alongside bae.
But more than anything, Luck is a safe and playful thrill ride which surprisingly goes the opposite of the kiddy approach by keeping the on-screen animated children on Earth while main character Samantha goes on a quest to change regain some lost fortune - er - luck.
Really the best part about seeing this is opting out of being in a crammed movie theater with screaming kids - we’ve all experienced it in some form - and allowing your 4K television to really embrace the quality and presentation Apple TV+ continues to deliver on a regular basis. You’re truly seeing a cinematic work of art in the luxury of your home space and under your circumstances. Light some candles. Fire up the UberEats app. Grab the blanket and set the tone.
