Deon Taylor's 'Fear' is 100 percent your Date Night horror movie must-see

There’s something about the horror genre that’s winning big right now. Whether we’re talking about those unique crazy flicks like the upcoming Infinity Pool or commercial craziness in the form of Scream VI, you can’t pull away from the fact this category of movies are must-see. Filmmaker Deon Taylor’s new Fear movie pits an all-star cast with the perfect amount of scariness, modern day humor, realism plus twists and turns through the last scene.

Needless to say? This is an absolutely Date Night-approved movie. For starters, Deon Taylor has contributed to Black culture for a while at this point - whether you want to go back a few years ago to Black & Blue and The Intruder or his Meet The Blacks franchise and Fatale. The films focus on thrills, chills and ample action so 2023’s Fear does a solid job in putting dabs of humor coming courtesy of all-star cast members like Clifford ‘T.I.’ Harris and Andrew ‘King Bach’ Bachelor.

One of the best reasons this is worth calling up bae and heading to the theaters to see on the big screen? How about the runtime. Blame it on Avatar and Babylon but the trend of three-hour flicks isn’t simmering down anytime soon. Two hours almost seems like the minimum. So for Deon Taylor to go the just over 90-minute time frame? Perfect.

It’s just the right amount of time to have a great outing with bae without feeling like you practically camped out overnight at the theater. So for the purpose of doing dinner and a movie or even want to knock the movie out before engaging in some other fun activities, Taylor’s flick really helps to get the wheels rolling rather than burning through them.

All in all - if you’re not feeling the over-the-top superhero flicks coming out and the movies with an aim at only securing the Oscar and awards season nods and are truly looking for a flick which can spark excitement, some creepy unexpected laughs and a batch of star power all on the same screen?

This is your go-to. Absolutely Date Night-approved.

Fear officially hits theaters nationwide Friday, January 27.
