'Hellraiser' is a great must-watch but just not with bae
Sorry folks - the truth is Hellraiser is a lot of fun but just not with bae. Initially looking at the previews and build-up to what this is all about, I had every intention of giving this the ultimate co-sign but there are a few variables - and they’re pretty massive - for why this is a must-see but with friends at best.
The gore. Just like everyone loves some gore in their lives when it’s Halloween, this wild resurrection of the franchise takes it to a whole new 2022 level with graphic moments and scenes being a bit too much to stomach. Just when you thought getting your hand sliced from the puzzle box was enough, just imagine all types of disfigurement happening to the sum of two hours.
The story. You can handle a cheesy story but to the point it feels a little too forced and silly? Siblings upset at each other. Someone missing. We’ve seen it and heard these types of stories before and it’s not even a bad thing but for the sake of bae, let’s not go down the same road with time being limited and engagement always being the reason for linking up to kick back together.
The runtime. As mentioned, it’s a long-long movie. I am always going to push for 90-minute flicks to keep things moving but if you’re going with a 2-hour runtime, it has to be worth it.
All in all - it’s definitely worth watching especially if you recall the Hellraiser flicks from years ago but if your time is limited with bae, go with a safer bet.
