Forget dirty thirties - it’s all about being sporty at forty for rap artist Blu. The hip-hop veteran comes through with his ‘Simple’ anthem to properly celebrate the upcoming release of his Forty studio album.
Blu delivers with his ‘Simple’ anthem as the album quickly approaches
While we’ll have to wait another seven days for the new LP, how about geeking out over Blu dropping both a new single and music video off the project? Say less.
An independent hip-hop icon with a celebrated career spanning more than 15 years, L.A.'s own Blu has earned his spot in the rap pantheon. The master lyricist recently announced that he would be joining forces with influential producer August Fanon for Forty, a new album commemorating the dawn of Blu's fourth decade of life. Overflowing with the wisdom of experience, the collection is a soulful masterwork from an ever-evolving artist. "All the content is a reflection of where I am mentally at the age of 40," Blu explains.
With a release date fast approaching, Blu is now unveiling the new single "Simple" featuring longtime collaborator Sene and lyrical savant Chester Watson. As the three artists reminisce on the past with spellbinding wordplay, August Fanon's exquisite production elevates the track to pure hip-hop nirvana. Blu is also back with another viral visual for his verse, this time broadcasting from a local laundromat. "Simple" is now available on all digital outlets, while Forty is set for worldwide release on April 18th. The album features appearances by Kota The Friend, Asher Roth, Mickey Factz, R.A.P. Ferreira, Homeboy Sandman, Fashawn, and more.
