Cochise set the new standard for New York shows in Brooklyn last night
Blown. Away. There’s no way to simply say you should go catch a Cochise concert the next time he pulls through your neck of the woods other than saying it’s a bucket list item for 2022. Whether you have to go all the way from New Jersey to New York City’s Elsewhere venue in Brooklyn last night like I did - it’s worth it and then some.
I contemplated where to put this ‘review’ of what I experienced last night. Could it be a ‘Date Night or Nahhh…’ type of feature as I did come across plenty of couples losing their minds - in an epic euphoric type of way - as anthems both from Cochise’s The Inspection album played and then throwback songs mixed perfectly together? Or maybe a good ol’ fashioned ‘Previews, Reviews & More’ placement would fit the bill, right?
I mean, this was a review of an epic showcase so it would fit right in, right?
But this is more than just a review - it’s actually news-related because of how much it means to go see a live concert. Granted, there are music festivals as the Big Apple just had Rolling Loud pull through and there’s always showcases like Summer Jam and Powerhouse but something about the intimate and jam-packed venue of Elsewhere in Brooklyn and how much it meant in the post-pandemic era to see people both romancing and bromancing from wall to wall? The photos don't lie:
I know people still questioning when they’re going to head back to the theaters to see a new flick. There are people I know still hesitant to go get a haircut and have gone through the lessons of lining themselves up with the blades. Being able to experience Cochise’s live set reminded me it’s important to help guide folks back to living life to the fullest and getting an all-out performance of emotion, energy and everything in-between thrown at you and back on-stage. It was an amazing, mind-blowing and unforgettable concert.
The Inspection Tour is must-attend.
Leading up to the showcase I drove there with The Inspection album on repeat. Even better? How about a couple hours prior to taking off, I had the album playing on my PlayStation 5’s Apple Music with the headset as I grinded on the stationary bike and to say his music hits different is an understatement.
With tunes like the intro ‘Mr. Professor’ and ‘Megaman’ buzzing through my speakers to hearing how nice-nice Cochise is with guest features sharing microphone time like Chief Keef on his ‘Hunt’ record and Young Nudy coming clutch on ‘Nice,’ I knew it was going to be the perfect setting - in Williamsburg, Brooklyn of all places - to deliver this type of energy.
From the moment I arrived shortly before 9 PM ET and saw the packed crowd inside the venue, I knew the place was ready to get blown away. An epic deejay set with songs aimed at the drill movement courtesy of artists like the late Pop Smoke and Fivio Foreign - a few minutes of hype set the stage for Cochise to deliver his signature sound to the masses.
His personality. His sound. His ability to control the crowd. I couldn’t help but get lost counting heads and hands of people glowing up the venue.
Sweaty energy you could actually embrace. Even if you were just posting up in the event you were sweating from the excitement and way the sounds hit your chest.
Even the most drill of drill-type guys couldn’t help but turn up and nearly dropped their phones on multiple occasions trying to both capture the moment and live in it at the same time.
The footage shows a glimpse of what you’ll get from a Cochise show but rest assured, when the opportunity comes to see Cochise in-person - ideally in a smaller venue - it’s game-changing. More energy bottled up in there last night than what I’ve experienced from sold-out shows at the Barclays Center.
A once in a lifetime experience you have the luxury of doing over and over again.
