Drego & Beno's jam-packed S.W.W.T album is dropping just in time for back to school goals

Whether you’re heading back to school or preparing for the work grind - maybe both - there’s no doubt having the soundtrack to your late summer is vital. Look no further than Drego & Beno coming through with their new ‘Sorry We Was Trapping’ anthem as they prepare to bless the world with their S.W.W.T. album.

Drego & Beno’s new music has arrived

August 26 can’t come soon enough. The duo’s new LP will come stacked with heavy hitters including Sada Baby, Lil Yachty, Tee Grizzley and BabyTron.

Drego & Beno —Detroit’s foremost rap duo— announce their album, S.W.W.T., with the release of a new single and music video for the album’s title track, “Sorry We Was Trapping.” The pre-order for the project launched today and revealed the tracklist which includes features from Sada Baby, Lil Yachty, Tee Grizzley and BabyTron. The special effect-heavy video for “Sorry We Was Trapping” is directed by AXA and features Drego and Beno boxed up as official trapper action figures.

The Detroit duo have been doing this for a minute. Over the past few months and year, Dre and Be have remained dedicated to putting out quality content.

Since first emerging on Detroit’s booming rap scene with their street anthems “Slatt Season” and “Recipe 2,” Drego & Beno found overnight success as some of the city’s most magnetic young stars. Pitchfork was quick to name them as “not only one of the best duos in Detroit, but in hip-hop in general,” as well as “Detroit’s most wicked storytellers.” They cemented this title with their debut mixtape, Sorry For the Get Off, which was released in 2019.

The mixtape featured prominent Detroit artists Babyface Ray, BandGang and Damedot, and solidified their place at the forefront of Detroit’s new wave. As their videos racked up tens of millions of views, Drego & Beno capitalized on the success with the release of their debut album, Meet Us Outer Space, and the follow-up mixtape, Sorry for The Auto Tune, which both dropped later that same year. Drego’s collaboration with Sada Baby, “Bloxk Party,” which is approaching 100 million views, as well as features from Mozzy and Shoreline Mafia, propelled them even further.

Complex praised Drego & Beno’s “veteran cool” and “immense versatility” when they named the duo on their list of 25 Rappers to Watch in 2020 and No Jumper brought them on for an extensive interview on their podcast. The forthcoming album marks a comeback of sorts for Drego & Beno who have been fairly quiet since that time. While Drego has continued releasing solo projects and was tapped by Big Sean for “Friday Night Cypher,” Beno has taken some time away from music. Now the two are returning in full force, bringing their distinct energy and vivid storytelling back to the motor city.
