Need a reason to move around? Want to turn up like it’s Friday but on a Monday? Look no further than what hitmaker Dj Karaba is serving up these days courtesy of the super fire ‘Kokoma’ tune.

DJ Karaba’s ‘Kokoma’ is all types of non-stop movement and audio flexing

Within seconds of the song playing, you can’t help but feel a need to move around. A workout flex? An office grind? Pre-spring cleaning motivation? No matter your situation, Karaba serves up on this audio gem.

Canadian-French Congolese DJ and producer DJ Karaba unveils her first single of the year, "Kokoma '' via The Orchard. Paired with a live session featuring acclaimed drummer and 3x Grammy winner Magatte Sow (Black Panther and Wakanda Forever). The track embodies Karaba's essence of motion, characterized by an Amapiano-infused production that explores a darker aspect of her sonic palette. Drawing inspiration from Afro House and Afro Tech, Karaba's vibrant energy resonates deeply, reflecting her pan-African roots.

Karaba explains, “This is an incredibly energetic track set against a backdrop of darkness. I aimed to use this song as a way to symbolize the commencement of a new era, and it seemed like the ideal choice for this purpose. I delved deeper into the realm of dark sounds and elements to create a unique atmosphere. The title, ‘Kokoma’ is derived from the Lingala language, signifying ‘the arrival’.”

Today's news builds upon last year's Souvenirs EP as Karaba persists in crafting euphoric experiences that resonate with her global fanbase, cultivated through touring and the refinement of her artistry throughout 2023. Recently, her single "Mad Mess" has garnered a Juno Award nomination for Underground Dance Single of the Year. Continuing to push boundaries, Karaba explores an eclectic mix of sounds, incorporating elements of Afrobeat, soul and electronic music into her evolving sonic landscape.
