Key Glock Tells Apple Music How The Passing of Young Dolph Impacted Him...
I know it's something I'll never get over, and I can't ignore it, it is what it is. But I ain't going to let it slow me down. It gave me adrenaline in a good way to go harder, to know that I got somebody watching over me that want me to do what I'm doing. And he know like I know what I'm finna do. We each other biggest fans, for sure. His work... Basically, we got the same work ethic. We work so much. We don't overwork ourself because we know how much to give. We know how much to take. So, everything just naturally just play its part and just it flow out easy. So, everything just come easy.
Key Glock Tells Apple Music Why He Doesn’t Embrace Features After Being Ghosted Offering an Artist a Million Dollars …
This industry, it's different. For example, this is why I don't do features. “Russian Cream,” that was my first big breakout song that everybody got to know about Key Glock. Dolph wanted me to remix it. I was like, “S**t. Cool." I was like, "Who you got in mind?" He named me two people. And I was like, "All right." The one other person I know for sure he's going to go through the roof just because of who he is and his fan base and the machine he got behind him. So, I was like, "Let's offer him something." So, I offered him a million dollars, literally. A million dollars. Before I even physically had it all, I was going, "Hey, I'm taking this whole million, just going to give it to him." But after so long, like I said, I don't know the reason why they never said no or never said they didn't want to do it or, "I'll do it later". It just was no response. And I ain't like that because I ain't understand. I'm like, "Damn. I just offer this amount." I'm young and upcoming. I pay my respect to everybody. But bro, I offered a million dollars. So, once I got over that little experience, I was like, "Hey, bro. From now on, I'll never do a feature with nobody. I'll never put nobody..." It did something to me. It just boosted my ego and boosted my adrenaline like I had a motive. I was like, "I got a point to prove. Not just this person, but I'm finna show these n****s I don't need y'all, I don't need nobody." That's why in my first two or three years in the game, me and Dolph didn't drop one song with each other. Not one song.
Key Glock Tells Apple Music He Wasn’t Initially Planning on Releasing Any More Music in 2022…
At first, my plan... I wasn't even going to drop nothing else this year. I was going to wait till 2023 and just shoot off, just give everybody hell. But then, I got to paying attention to my fans... I always pay attention to them. I got to pay attention more and seeing what's going around in the industry, they're like, "The music's not sounding the same." But if it do sound the same, all the other rappers sound the same. In other words, they want this Glock because I don't sound like nobody. I let everybody do them and not do me. So, with that being said, I didn't want to drop too many songs. I wanted to tease them, but at the same time send a message. Let them know it's still Paper Route Five Life and we still do what we want to do, we're still running s**t. Ain't nothing changed.
