Leon Bridges sets the tone on Summer Moon with help from Kevin Kaarl

Summertime is just days away and the weather is only getting warmer. What better way to get into your almost weekend goals than kicking back to Leon Bridges’ 'Summer Moon’ anthem with fellow musician Kevin Kaarl.

Leon Bridges and Kevin Kaarl drop ‘Summer Moon’

On a New Music Friday, LB hit the green light on dropping the new single to the masses. While he kills it on the vocals, the Mexican indie singer and songwriters holds his own on the Columbia Records tune.

“Summer Moon” marks their first collaboration. As the story goes, Leon discovered Kevin’s music in the midst of lockdown and instantly embraced it. He personally reached out to Kevin to guest on “Summer Moon,” uncovering rich creative synergy between his native Texas and Mexico.

With sparse and spacious production, the track layers Leon’s soulfully evocative vocals above a simmering beat and strong bass line. Meanwhile, Kevin responds with a bilingual verse before Leon joins him in harmony.

Leon Bridges and Kevin Kaarl know they have a banger

The duo have since stepped forward to hype up the tune. They both also acknowledged how much the tune means to them.

Regarding the single, Leon said, “I was Inspired by this coffee shop called Summer Moon near my home that my friends Abe and Marcel used to frequent during the pandemic. The vibe is about searching for connection with someone despite the fear of living during that time. I hit up Kevin Kaarl to guest on the record as I became a fan of his work during the same period. Texas shares a special artistic relationship with Mexico and this felt like my way to put a shine on that."

Kevin added, “Around 2018 browsing YouTube, I found a video that caught my attention. It was a music video for a song called ‘River,’ and the song and the video really got into my head, being a very strong source of inspiration for me at that time. Even during the pandemic, I remember that song along with its story was the main reference for the music video of a song of mine. When they told me about a collaboration with Leon Bridges, I didn't hesitate to accept. It really was something necessary and ‘Summer Moon’ is a very beautiful and real song. I'm glad I can participate in it.”

The full-fledged Boundless Tour is happening right now

It’s more than jus putting out new music. Bridges is keeping busy these days with the launch of his new Boundless tour going through September.

Right now, Leon is canvasing Europe on The Boundless Tour. He’ll bring his first-ever headlining amphitheater and arena tour back to the United States throughout the summer, with stops in over twenty cities across North America, including Los Angeles’s The Forum on July 30th and New York’s Forest Hills Stadium on August 18th. The Boundless Tour features all new dates, in addition to Leon’s previously announced Spring US and UK/EU dates.

The Boundless Tour will feature something for everyone, with Leon performing tracks from his Grammy Award nominated debut album Coming Home, his Grammy Award winning album Good Thing and his Grammy Award nominated third album Gold Diggers Sound as well as Texas Sun, his collaborative EP with Khruangbin. Gold-Diggers Sound, which is his most confident, intimate and sensual album to date, was named a Critics Pick by The New York Times and features breakout tracks including the Grammy Award nominated “Born Again” featuring Robert Glasper, “Motorbike,” “Why Don’t You Touch Me” and “Sweeter,” which he performed at the Democratic National Convention.
