Red Bull Batalla's new 'Reencuentro' film proves the Spanish-speaking rap culture is huge

The rap game is way bigger than the United States and Red Bull knows it. The popular beverage’s Red Bull Batalla is putting some serious attention on the Spanish-speaking rap game culture with its new Reencuentro film which highlights some of the world’s best rappers gearing up to compete and show out at a full-fledged event.

Red Bull Batalla’s new ‘Reencuentro’ film

The flick takes place around the Red Bull Batalla 2021 International Final at the iconic Quinta Vergara amphitheater, home to the renown Vina del Mar festival.

Fresh off the start of the 2022 season and the recent commencement of the global application phase,Red Bull Batalla, the largest Spanish-language freestyle rap battle in the world, recently released Red Bull Batalla: Reencuentro, a new documentary film that recaps the 2021 World Finals and the historic double win by Mexico's Aczino.

Red Bull Batalla: Reencuentro follows the Spanish-speaking world’s best freestyle rappers, as they prepare to compete on the world’s stage at the 2021 Red Bull Batalla World Final at the iconic Quinta Vergara Amphitheater in Viña del Mar, Chile in front of a live audience for the first time in years, since the start of the pandemic. 

It’s a global adventure

The film doesn’t just take place in Chile. Throughout the preparation for the big event, Red Bull showcases artists from all over the world including multiple South America spots and Spain.

Viewers travel to Columbia, Mexico, the USA, Spain and beyond to get a closer look at how 2021 Batalla MCs like Marithea, Gazir, Hammer or Rapder live, how they prepare and how they face the biggest challenge of impromptu rap competitions and their quest for glory on the biggest night of the year. Red Bull Batalla: Reeuncuento is a must watch for any fan as they gear up to cheer on for their favorites during the 2022 season.

This year’s Red Bull Batalla

With last year in the books, the focus is all about what the 2022 battle will showcase.

Following the closing of the 2022 Red Bull Batalla global application phase, 32 MCs from around the country will be chosen to advance to the next round in the U.S. season. Those selected will have the opportunity to showcase their lyrical talents and compete 1v1 bracket-style in one of two U.S. regional qualifier cyphers this summer. The top 16 contenders from both cyphers will then advance  to the U.S. National Finals in October. Later this year, all eyes will be on the top MCs from around the world as they battle it out at the World Final in Mexico, where one winner will be crowned the 2022 Red Bull Batalla World Champion.
