ROSALÍA tells Apple Music about new song "SAOKO" and upcoming album ‘MOTOMAMI’

ROSALÍA has plenty to talk about these days. The popular crooner chops it up with Apple Music about her new song "SAOKO" and upcoming album MOTOMAMI.

ROSALÍA joined Sandra Peña on ¡Dale Play! Radio on Apple Music 1 to dish on various topics. Kick back and check out four key quotes from the chop up session.

ROSALÍA on the meaning of ‘MOTOMAMI’

It is a word of African origin and means sos movement, energy. The two sounds that are very present and very different from each other on the album because, on the one hand, there is “moto” and, on the other hand, there is “mami.”

ROSALÍA on splitting the album between “moto” and “mami”

“Moto” is the most aggressive side, the side that has to do with the most physical songs, so to speak. As you can imagine, “SAOKO” is part of the more “moto” side. On the other hand, there is “mami,” who is the most fragile, most vulnerable side, most connected to nature.

ROSALÍA on what ‘MOTOMAMI’ represents to her

“MOTOMAMI” is an attitude. I think that you can be a “motomami” just because of the way you present yourself to the world.

ROSALÍA on why she decided to reconstruct Daddy Yankee’s and Wisin’s 2004 hit “Saoco”

Imagine if Yankee and Wisin hadn't influenced this song, if it wasn't for them, this song wouldn't exist. I have always loved reggaeton, it is something that is part of my memories of the first times I went to the club, it was always dancing reggaeton. This song at the end is a tribute, it's like the most direct tribute you can make to a classic reggaeton song, like “Saoco.” That is why it is such a present influence in this project, because I love it and because it inspires me a lot.
