Gunna and BMAC have a massive $500,000 initiative for Georgia families

No matter your take on Gunna’s hit-making ability, it’s clear his soul and heart is in Georgia with this massive move. Handfuls of families will receive $1,000 stipends each month as part of the rap crooner’s rollout.

Atlanta rap icon and four-time GRAMMY® Award nominee Gunna has teamed up  with the Black Music Action Coalition (BMAC) to launch the Gunna x BMAC 30349 Guaranteed Income Program. This $500,000 initiative will provide a $1,000 monthly stipend to 30 families residing in the 30349 zip code of South Fulton, GA. Gunna and BMAC co-founder, president, and CEO Willie “Prophet” Stiggers are excited to announce that applications for the program are now open through the link HERE

The Guaranteed Income and Support Program builds on Gunna’s ongoing efforts to enhance financial stability and quality of life in the South Fulton community. It also complements BMAC’s mission to combat poverty and create equal opportunities for black/brown people across the country.

The program also expands Gunna’s work in his community including Gunna’s Drip Closet, a free in-school clothing store and the Goodr Grocery Store at McNair Middle School, where students have access to necessities for free. The goal of the new program will give families a guaranteed monthly income via cash placed directly in their hands for a year and most importantly, provide support services ranging from financial empowerment to mental health. Gunna and BMAC will work with the Mayor of South Fulton, Khalid Kamua, and community organizations that service the city of South Fulton, GA to identify the recipients.

The program will officially launch September 18.

“As Mayor of South Fulton, I am deeply committed to fostering economic opportunities and uplifting our community. The partnership between Gunna, BMAC, and the City of South Fulton represents a transformative step in addressing the economic disparities that some of our residents' face. The Gunna x BMAC 30349 Guaranteed Income Program is not just an investment in our city's future, but a powerful example of how we can create meaningful change through collaboration and innovation. I am proud to support this initiative and look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have on the families in our community.” — Khalid Kamau, Mayor of South Fulton

"When I launched Gunna's Great Giveaway, my goal was to uplift my hometown by providing resources that could make a tangible difference in at least one household. Partnering with BMAC to introduce the Guaranteed Income program in South Fulton is a significant step toward enhancing these communities and transforming the economic landscape of the city. " - GUNNA, GRAMMY® Award Nominated & Multi-Platinum Recording Artist

“BMAC's mission to achieve systemic equity must begin with economic justice. Black Americans are too often locked out of critical opportunities and pathways to climb the socioeconomic ladder despite being central to every cultural and financial movement in this country’s history. Partnering with Gunna to bring needed financial relief and, more importantly, mentorship and other services leading to sustainable change is very powerful. Our organization will continue to partner with Artists and others looking to put equity in action so our community can tap into its fullest potential.” -Willie “Prophet” Stiggers, Co-Founder/President & CEO of Black Music Action Coalition (BMAC)

BMAC will also tap into their network in the music, film, fashion and tech space to help mentor the recipients of the grant.

Gunna and Prophet will highlight the program onstage during the annual BMAC Gala on September 19, with celebrations continuing September 29 to commemorate Gunna Day. (Official Gunna Day - September 16)

ABOUT GUNNA

Since quietly paving a lane out of Atlanta, Gunna has consistently altered the sound, structure, and very shape of hip-hop, accelerating its future in the process. Born Sergio Kitchens in College Park, GA, the diamond-selling superstar has shaken popular culture, redefining “drip” for a generation, giving “P” a place in the lexicon, and eternally ingraining himself in the conversation. He crossed the unbelievable distance from humble beginnings to performances on Saturday Night Live and two spots on former President Barack Obama’s Playlist. He has reeled in billions of streams, scored dozens of multi-platinum, platinum, and gold plaques, and garnered four GRAMMY®Award nominations. Ascending to the forefront of the game, he earned a rare diamond certification for the seminal BillboardHot 100 Top 5 smash “Drip Too Hard” with Lil Baby. He notched two consecutive #1 debuts on the Billboard 200 with Wunna [2020] and DS4Ever [2022]. Hailed as “a worthy escapade” by Rolling Stone, the latter marked his highest first-week sales tally to date and yielded the platinum-certified internet-breaking “Pushin P” [feat. Young Thug] with Future. “Pushin P” received GRAMMY® Award nods in the categories of “Best Rap Performance” and “Best Rap Song.” Beyond standout sets on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel LIVE!, his rarity and artistry distinguish him and allow him to ascend musically. He maintained this momentum in 2023 with the release of his latest album a Gift & a Curse featuring his platinum single “fukumean.” The album notably marked his fourth straight #1 debut on both the Top R&B Hip-Hop/Albums Chart and Top Rap Albums Chart. a Gift & a Curse served as his fourth consecutive Top 3 debut on the Billboard 200. Meanwhile, 2024 saw Gunna topple the charts with One of Wun—which crashed the Billboard 200 at #2 and emerged as his fifth Top 5 debut and set the stage for his massive THE BITTERSWEET TOUR. With more music and major moves on the horizon, Gunna will continue to change the culture forever.
