Hollywood superstar Nick Cannon has plenty of things to talk about these days. The veteran hip-hop personality joined WFAN’s ‘Carton & Roberts’ to dish on everything from his personal life and new endeavors to one of the craziest pranks he received courtesy of fellow funnyman Kevin Hart.
From talking about Kevin to a new career move for veteran hip-hop artist MC Lyte, Cannon doesn’t hold back. Check out 4 huge reveals from 94.7 The Block’s Nick Cannon on WFAN Sports Radio’s Carton and Roberts show plus the full interview at the bottom.
1. On sharing recent losses and personal life with the world.
“I learn from guys like you, when it comes to the good, the bad, just lean into it. I didn’t have any of the answers, I still don’t…Even when it comes to T.V., radio, just broadcasting in general, I value it. It’s the most intimate form of entertainment.”
2. Surprising Kevin Hart with a llama, Kevin Hart putting his cell phone number on a billboard to get him back.
“He put my cell phone number on a billboard not just in one city, in six cities...but then he takes a picture of it and posts it to his 100 million followers. Now I’m getting calls at 5:00 a.m. from Nigeria… I still have the same cell phone number. Now it’s like a marketing device…If you’re going to be in a prank war, you’ve got to keep leaning into it. We documented many conversations wanting to wake me up at 4:00 a.m wanting to talk. After that, I pranked him back by wrapping my face on his private jet. He had no idea. It said, ‘Kevin rides the Cannon.’”
3. Being the new host of 94.7 The Block station. Confirms the female voice on the show is MC Lyte.
“I never left radio, but [did] the talk show at the same time. I’m stretching my wings in this day part from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. You get to be a little more real, and uninhibited. That’s the same form where you just get to be open. That intimate form where I don’t have to dress up, put on the fancy suits, [or] watch my mouth. On T.V., it’s more buttoned up. I’m a music lover, I’m a musician, I’m D.J., really back to my roots. The fact that we’re focusing on throwbacks and it’s like the golden era of Hip Hop. It’s a little bit more of who I am in the everyday practice…There’s not a check that I don’t like.”
4. On having eight kids, and if he will have more.
“All of them, the whole nation. Father’s Day is about to be exciting. Hopefully it's a day I receive, every other day is expensive. A lot of macaroni necklaces and construction paper string art…I don’t know. We should take a bet. Right now, I’m good. Never say never.”
