Consequence and Chuck D make statements in their ‘What Has America Done’ visual
There’s no sugarcoating or dumbing down the message from Cons and Chuck. It’s a cinematic presentation and hard-hitting eye-opening big facts in this visual presentation.
After joining A Tribe Called Quest at their induction into the Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame (only the 12th hip hop group to be inducted), Consequence releases a new single, “What Has America Done,” which is now available. “What Has America Done” features Public Enemy’s Chuck D (and he also illustrated the singles cover art) and Tony Williams. “What Has America Done” will be included on the deluxe edition of Nice Doing Business With You (which will include seven new tracks) which will be released on 11.22.24.
With the video that was premiered by TMZ earlier today, Consequence and Chuck D give a State of the Union address on the heels of the Presidential election.
“The results of the 2024 Presidential Election are a reflection of who and where we are as a nation. Like it or not, especially if you’re African American, we must continue to pursue our equalities and make sure we do everything in our power to level the playing field as best we can” Consequence commented. “In doing so, we can forget where we’ve been and what it took to get where we are.”
“Avatars like they’re the new Klan hoodies” Chuck D asserted. “The more things change, the more they stay the SAME”!
Nice Doing Business With You features appearances from Con's frequent collaborator Kanye West (who guests on “No Apologies,” and produces “Bloodstain”), Chris Rock, YNW Melly, Tony Williams and Con’s son Caiden The Crownholder. Consequence also produced the bulk of Nice Doing Business With You.
The deluxe edition of Nice Doing Business With You will be released on 11.22.24 and will include seven new tracks; including “What Has America Done.”

Low-key? New Jersey is always going to get ample love from these parts so try not to act too surprised by the fact there’s some major excitement going down with Rakim, Chuck D and Speech pulling through at the legendary NJPAC with Christian McBride for the 11th annual TD James Moody Jazz Festival.
It’s a celebration at the NJPAC
Now if you know the Big Apple, then you already know Newark is just a stone’s throw away. The TD Bank sponsored event is slated to happen November 19 - a Saturday, of course - at 8 PM ET for some endless celebrating and fun.
For one unmissable night, NJPAC unites the leading voices in jazz, hip hop and poetry. The legendary lineup includes hip hop stars Rock n Roll Hall of Fame Chuck D (Public Enemy) Rakim (Paid in Full) and Speech (Arrested Development). They will join award-winning poets and spoken word performers Nikki Giovanni, Jessica Care Moore, Mayor Ras Baraka and The Last Poets (Abiodun Oyewole, Umar Bin Hassan, and Babadon Babatunde); saxophonist Javon Jackson and Musical Director (and NJPAC Jazz Advisor) Christian McBride; as well as young poets from NJPAC’s City Verses program. Blaring horns and baring souls, these masterful artists exclaim their vision of justice, change, and joy.
Reserve tickets now by visiting NJPAC.org.
This unique partnership between NJPAC and Rutgers University-Newark celebrates the rich historical connection between jazz and poetry, creates opportunities for public engagement, strengthens community ties through the arts, amplifies the authentic voices of the people of Greater Newark, and engages a new generation of poets, jazz musicians and teaching artists. This program is supported through NJPAC and Rutgers-Newark’s City Verses: Elevating Voices through Jazz and Poetry initiative, funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
This year’s program offers events combining jazz luminaries in collaboration with artists known for R&B, poetry, hip hop, and so much more.
The festival kick-starts November 10th with two powerhouse concerts: one of the today’s most creative forces in the contemporary jazz scene, Terence Blanchard, will be joined by his E-Collective and Turtle Island Quartet for a special tribute to Wayne Shorter; and American Idol winner Fantasia pairs up with one of the best new voices in jazz, Jazzmeia Horn (2013 Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition winner). Tickets are on-sale now at njpac.org
For the 11th consecutive year, the festival is sponsored by TD Bank, which has supported the event since its inauguration, ensuring that the event annually includes free community performances and educational events, as well as mainstage concerts showcasing jazz superstars. “We know that music brings people together, and jazz, in particular, has a way of dissolving boundaries,” says Martin Melilli, Market President at TD Bank. “We believe in the power of the arts to connect us all, and we are proud to sponsor a Festival that offers everyone in New Jersey so many ways to find joy, community and inspiration.” Below is a complete schedule, along with information about the performances.

Get the holiday shopping done early with Chuck D’s help
While November 29 feels far away, the way time is flying by, it’ll be here in no time. Chuck has teamed up with UK publisher Genesis Publications to deliver his passion project to the masses just in time for the holiday shopping season.
LIVIN’ LOUD presents a body of artworks which continue to address the social and politically conscious issues of his lyrics, revealing Chuck D’s visual dexterity as he explores a diverse range of subjects paying homage to his musical influences and peers from James Brown and Woody Guthrie to Def Jam labelmates Run-DMC and Beastie Boys, a host of the most influential hip-hop artists from Ice Cube to Run the Jewels, his twin passions of baseball and basketball, creating a collection of landscapes on tour with Prophets of Rage, and a range of sociopolitical pieces that explore the issues continuing to shape our culture.
LIVIN’ LOUD features Chuck D’s engaging commentary, guiding the reader through his thought process and inspirations and tracing his musical and artistic trajectory through illuminating anecdotes and cultural observations that give unprecedented insight into his life and work. Chuck's text reveals his early experiences growing up in the turbulent era of the Sixties, in which he was shaped by the prevalent civil rights and anti-war sentiments of the time. He goes on to share his journey into the world of hip-hop from his early roots and the central figures that critically shaped him and his voice, the formation of Public Enemy through to their Rock ’n’ Roll Hall of Fame induction, his time with Prophets of Rage through to current day world affairs. “I was already expressing my political viewpoint through my art and graphics, so the bridge into music was a natural next step. First, I expressed myself with my head and my hands, and then later with my voice.” – Chuck D
