Gang Starr delivers with ‘Finishem’ for the masses
It’s pure fire and demands ample repeat consideration. Preemo delivers a posthumous tune you can’t help but listen to over and over.
To commemorate and celebrate the fifth-anniversary of One Of The Best Yet, Gang Starr is back with a new single, “FINISHEM”; which is now available at all DSP’s.
One of the most timeless, artful, and influential duos ever, DJ Premier and Guru’s enduring legacy continues to inspire fans old and new. When Gang Starr released their historic album, One Of The Best Yet, on 11.1.19 (their first album in sixteen years), it was met with overwhelming critical praise and fan response. Skylines across the world were ablaze with predominantly displayed Gang Starr billboards; including Times Square and London. The adulation and reaction for One Of The Best Yet was immediate, palpable and overwhelming! Funkmaster Flex dropped bombs and dedicated an entire hour long-tribute set before he introduced "Family & Loyalty" featuring J. Cole (who called appearing on the first Gang Starr single in nearly two decades “an honor to be a part of” and “a classic”). One Of The Best Yet made a swift and immediate impact, with multiple trending topics on social media and rocketing up the charts to become the #2 album in the country.
“As One Of The Best Yet was approaching the five-year anniversary mark, that milestone moved me to create a new track to match the occasion. The album is special on so many different levels; what it meant to me, Guru’s family, and the fans, it warranted something new to honor the occasion” DJ Premier affirmed. “I started going through files, looking for something that stood out and fit; and as soon as I heard Guru’s hook “now I’m about to finishem, my rep alone could diminish’em” I knew that was it and went to work crafting a beat for it. I had some unused Antman Wonder files that I decided to check out, and one of the sounds hit me emotionally from the very first note. I knew this was the one to shape the song. The fans always appreciate more Gang Starr—and this one is for them.”

Want some vintage vibes with a modern day twist? Look no further than what hip-hop veteran Spice 1 is serving up to the masses with help from DJ Premier, CL Smooth and Mike Epps on their ‘Since The Day’ anthem.
Spice 1 comes through with a hard-hitting ‘Since The Day’ anthem for the world
It’s more than just a few bars. Spice recruits production from Premo while adding the comedic topping with Epps and more lyricism from CL Smooth on the new audio gem.
A true O.G. and undisputed West Coast Royalty, after three prodigious decades in the game, Spice 1’s longevity and influence speaks for itself. The Bay Area legend’s brand of vivid, raw and uncut lyricism, venting on the complexities of street life, has resulted in three Gold plaques, standout soundtrack singles (“Trigga Gots No Heart” from the award-winning Menace II Society Film), and respect from Hip-Hop’s elite; including making classics with Tupac, Too Short, MC Eiht, E-40, Method Man, Ice-T and UGK among others.
In the summer of 2019, Spice made a triumphant return with Platinum O.G., which debuted in the top 10 on DSP’s and included collaborations with comrades Too Short, Pimp C, MC Eiht, Kurupt, Devin The Dude, Tha Outlawz, Yukmouth (Luniz), Digital Underground’s Money B and more.
After announcing Platinum O.G. 2 with "Gangsta Shhh" featuring Snoop Dogg, Rick Ross & Q Bosilini, and following it up with “Crumbs With Bums” featuring Conway The Machine, Spice 1 is back with a new focus track, “Since The Day,” which features DJ Premier, CL Smooth and Mike Epps. “Since The Day” is now available!
“Since The Day” is really what my Platinum O.G. trilogy is all about, bringing the culture together that laid the foundation for making Hip-Hop what it is today” Spice 1 declares.
The chilling and powerful story-telling that separates Spice 1 from his peers is still in effect with Platinum O.G. 2. The album is narrated by Sway Calloway, and produced by N.O. Joe (Geto Boys, Scarface, UGK, Ice Cube, Devin The Dude, AZ, LL Cool J) & Ryan Elder; Elder who also executive produced the album states “I think Spice is the most underrated rapper of all time” he offers. “His significance and importance on the culture should be recognized. I truly care about preserving his legacy and would never do a sequel if I felt we couldn’t top the first one, and we did that. No one likes a bad sequel.”
Spice 1’s Platinum O.G.2 will be released on 5-3-24 and features appearances from Snoop Dogg, Rick Ross, Conway The Machine, DJ Premier, Paul Wall, Treach, MC Eiht, Devin The Dude, Bushwick Bill, KXNG Crooked, CL Smooth, Lil Flip, Sway Calloway and more.

DJ Premier & Snoop Dogg: The rap legends double up for a fire 'Can U Dig That?' anthem
Is there any slowing down rap icons Snoop Dogg and DJ Premier especially in 2024? The Doggfather and Preemo continue to serve up anthems and prove timing is everything with their ‘Can U Dig That?’ anthem.

DJ Premier and Snoop Dogg bless The Culture with ‘Can U Dig That?’
Much more than a simple follow-up to his ‘Work This Out’ Russ tune, Premier raises the bar even more with his Snoop-assisted instant audio classic.
DJ Premier is back on his grind. Mere weeks after getting into his R&B bag with Russ on “Work This Out,” DJ Premier and Snoop Dogg link up for an icons-only affair with their new single “Can U Dig That?,” which is now available.
What’s more Hip-Hop than DJ Premier and Snoop Dogg. Premier is unquestionably one of the greatest producers of all time, and Snoop Dogg is arguably the most famous rapper ever.
Though Premier and Snoop have worked together previously; Snoop appeared on Gang Starr’s The Ownerz Album (“In The Life…”), Premier produced two songs on Snoop’s Paid Tha Cost To Be Da Boss album (one of which he discussed on his influential "So Wassup" series), “Unfucwitable” feat The Lady Of Rage from Snoop’s Doggy Style Allstars Vol. 1,and most recently on Russ’ “Free” which also featured Big Krit.
Their new single, “Can U Dig That?” is their first collaboration under DJ Premier and Ian Schwartzman’s independent imprint TTT. “Can U Dig That?” offers all that you love from Preem and Snoop, with a pulsating lo-fi production and patented scratch chorus from Premier, which amplifies Snoop’s stream-of-consciousness raps.
“My manager and I launched our label TTT (To The Top), and we decided to call Snoop as one of my first album collaborations. Snoop recorded a demo of the song, and it went into my vaults unfinished” DJ Premier professed. “Fast forward, our initial plan for an album changed, and we decided to just release singles. Snoop updated his lyrics and now it’s ready for our audience to ride out to—Can U Dig That?”
DJ Premier & Snoop Dogg “Can U Dig That?” is now available at all DSP’s via TTT (To The Top).

DJ Premier: The new 'Beats That Collected Dust' proves third time's the charm
To keep it 100? Each release has remained super fire but something about the number three makes DJ Premier’s new Beats That Collected Dust Volume 3 an absolute hard-hitting release.
To keep it 100? Each release has remained super fire but something about the number three makes DJ Premier’s new Beats That Collected Dust Volume 3 an absolute hard-hitting release.
DJ Premier’s new ‘Beats That Collected Dust Volume 3’ is finally streaming
No lyrics needed, just anthem Preemo cuts and mixing to get you into your proper work grind and motivated. DJ Premier comes through on his latest contribution to the instrumental culture.
If there was a Mount Rushmore for producers, DJ Premier would surely be one of the faces etched in stone upon it. Over the last three+ decades, DJ Premier has cultivated an impeccable resume and has done so with a wide breadth of collaborators encompassing many different genres. Undoubtedly, DJ Premier is a true innovator, one who has not only created timeless music, but one that has both shaped and moved the culture forward.
In a career full of milestones, DJ Premier keeps adding new ones, as he was just nominated for a Latin Grammy Award for his collaboration (as a featured artist and producer) “Le Pido A Dios” with Feid and starred in a time-traveling, five-decade spanning commercial with Don Toliver which MTV used to segue-way into the recent VMA’s 50th Hip Hop Anniversary tribute performance.
In 2008, Premier released the first volume of Beats That Collected Dust, which over the years has become a fan favorite due to the series' personalized nature; these aren’t random instrumentals that are culled together, these are productions that DJ Premier produced specifically for other artists that ended up not being used.
Though it’s been over a decade (Beats That Collected Dust, Vol. 2 was released in 2011) since he released a volume, DJ Premier has now surprise released Beats That Collected Dust, Vol. 3, a brand new installment of beats; each one with its own unique origin story, from who they were initially produced for, to why they ended up collecting “dust.”
“I like unique releases and Beats That Collected Dust is so unique. I also love the process of titling a project. I’ve always been responsible for titling all the projects I produce, and Beats That Collected Dust is so fitting” DJ Premier reveals. “The format is an original tool, just like talk beds, freestyles, writing verses, and just plain listening. I decide when to release these instrumental volumes when they reach the stage of collecting dust. So here we are; Beats That Collected Dust, Vol. 3 is here and vinyl has arrived.”
These beats are dusty, but they still bang!
DJ Premier’s Beats That Collected Dust, Vol. 3 is now available via TTT Records.
DJ Premier: The Westside Gunn and Rome Streetz 'Runway' is non-stop repeat fire
It’s tough to have singles make it to the Attack The Culture ‘News’ section - just keeping it 100. But the moment you fire up DJ Premier’s ‘Runway’ anthem, you know this isn’t your typical new release.

DJ Premier links with Westside Gunn and Rome Streetz for ‘Runway’
The song is instant replay worthy and the bars? Super tough, to say the least. Lose yourself in the details and keep the repeat mode activated.
A true testament to his artistry, longevity and legacy, DJ Premier is more than likely your favorite producers, favorite producer. Over the last three + decades, DJ Premier has cultivated an impeccable resume, and whether it’s been music, movies, television, live performances, or art, he has provided cutting-edge soundtracks that have influenced, shaped, and molded every medium he touches.
Fresh off of his appearance, “Lost Forever,” on Travis Scott’s Utopia album (Travis initially premiered the track during Paris Fashion Week in 2022), Westside Gunn is a mainstay on Paris Fashion Week guest lists. Inspired by soundtracking the AMIRI Autum-Winter 2023 runway show in Paris earlier this year and collaborating with the brand’s Founder and Creative Director Mike Amiri, DJ Premier effortlessly glides into the fashion space with his aptly-titled new single “Runway,” featuring Gunn and Rome Streetz.
Like Westside Gunn’s famous adlib (boom, boom, boom) anytime DJ Premier and Gunn sync up the results are always fireworks. In 2019, Premier tapped Westside Gunn, Benny The Butcher and Conway The Machine for the undisputed banger “Headlines,” which was released in conjunction with Payday Records; and even went to Buffalo to film the Jason Goldwatch directed video on Griselda's home turf. That was followed soon thereafter by Preem’s contribution (“Shawn Vs Flair”) to Westside Gunn’s magnum opus Pray For Paris.
While Preem and Gunn’s collaborative history is solidified, they’ve done it again with their new single “Runway,” which also features fellow rising Griselda star Rome Streetz. “It’s always a guarantee for me to deliver a street approach when producing a record with them (Westside Gunn & Rome)” DJ Premier affirms. “Originally, Mike Amiri [Founder and Creative Director, AMIRI] pitched it to happen during the Paris Week fashion show, but we waited. Now, we have an additional “Runway” to walk on…”
The artwork for “Runway” was created by Mike Amiri whose eponymous LA fashion house, AMIRI, is one of the fastest-growing luxury brands in the world. The new single will be preceded by the release of DJ Premier & AMIRI’s new clothing capsule collection releasing August, 17th 2023 at 9:00AM PST on amiri.com, AMIRI boutiques and select global retailers.
