Erica Banks hits the green light on dropping her ‘Cocky On Purpose 2’ album

It’s a jam-packed EP loaded with repeat-heavy anthems. From Skilla Baby and Big Boogie delivering guest spots to major production, the Texas beauty does much more than deliver on her new EP.

Wielding her thunderous delivery with equal parts power and finesse, Erica Banks is anything but demure. The South Dallas diva unapologetically flexes with Cocky On Purpose 2, her new project, out today.

Following up her fan favorite 2019 mixtape, Cocky On Purpose 2 is a mixture of brash bangers and romantic anthems. The new tape is home to "Extra" ft. Big Boogie, the sultry lead single, and more appearances by some of the hottest rappers in the game today. On "One Wish" is a twinkling duet with Skilla Baby, showcasing Erica's sense of melody and steamy chemistry with the Detroit rapper. Erica recruits Toosii to bless "She Like Real Ones," as the two rappers play footsie above appealing flecks of guitar. Always Texas to the core, Erica embraces her Lone Star sensibilities on "Big Risk," going toe-to-toe with fellow Dallas native BigXThaPlug on a soul-sampling slapper .

Though she is a game collaborator, Erica stacked Cocky On Purpose 2 with plenty of standout solo tracks. "He Said (Body On Me)" is a sexually frank throwback to the crunk era, as Erica uses clipped cadences and appealing auto-tune to describe a close club encounter. Single "H*e Please" transforms The Game's "How We Do" into a thumping deconstruction of her rivals. The tape ends with "Bad  Bizness," an icy uptempo anthem that takes cues from Jersey club.Cocky On Purpose 2 is available everywhere via Create Music Group.

Along with the new project, Erica shares the brand new video for "Tell Me," a collaboration with the respected Atlanta street rapper Ralo. Over gently percolating 808s, Erica unwinds a laid-back flow and eases into gentle melodies, before Ralo provides his perspective with his signature high-pitched and high-energy style. In the video, Erica takes command of the world's hottest chicken restaurant, where she leads a staff of baddies and romances her man.

Hailing from Dallas, Texas, Erica Banks' artistic journey began at a young age. Her passion for music and her undeniable talent for crafting infectious hip-hop tracks soon caught the attention of both fans and industry insiders. She set the stage for her remarkable career with her viral hits. Erica Banks made waves with her distinctive style, characterized by clever lyrics, compelling beats, and an unapologetic attitude. Her music, including chart-toppers like "Buss It" (145M Spotify streams), has earned her legions of fans and millions of streams, firmly establishing her as a rising star in the hip-hop scene. Recently, Erica took her talents to the big screen, joining the cast of Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta (LHHATL). Her captivating presence and unfiltered personality have added a new dimension to the show, garnering even more fans who can't get enough of her authenticity.

As Erica Banks continues to evolve as an artist and personality, she is well on her way to making an enduring impact on the entertainment industry. Stay tuned for much more.

Erica Banks’ Diary of The Flow Queen mixtape is must-hear

The jam-packed 13-song project comes with a stack of anthems. Some records include Banks sharing mic time with DreamDoll on their ‘Toot That’ and turning up the temperatures with her ‘Trick’ smash.

Today, Dallas rap star Erica Banks releases Diary of The Flow Queen on 1501 Certified Entertainment/Warner Records. The fiery new mixtape is laced with dexterous flows, quotable bars, and beats designed to destroy the club. The 13-song set includes the hits “Toot That” featuring DreamDoll & BeatKing, “Designer,” “Slim Waist,” “Pop Out,” and the new single “Trick,” which comes with a glossy, celebratory video.

“Diary of the Flow Queen is definitely the party girl pack all in one. I’m letting my fans get in my head as to what I think a good time is, as I have put it into music. This one’s for the women that enjoy fun, and are not to be played with. Definitely a memorable project, my favorite so far”

Diary of The Flow Queen combines Banks’ ferocious rhymes with high-tech production and nods to the past. Take the infectious, looming summer hit “Trick.” Powered by emphatic bass and quick-fire flows, Banks unloads memorable flexes and an interpolation of David Banner’s hit 2003 single, “Like a Pimp.”

Erica Banks’ music keeps hitting harder and harder

Over the past few weeks, Banks has remained committed to putting out smashes. She recently added her own twist to rap group Crime Mob’s classic ‘Stilettos’ song.

Trick” isn’t the project’s only glimmer of nostalgia. On previous single “Designer,” Banks reimagined Crime Mob’s “Stilettos (Pumps)” for an infectious anthem. Meanwhile, for “Toot That,” she samples “Pop, Lock & Drop It,” a 2007 single from late St. Louis rapper Huey. While those songs look to the past, they’re destined to soundtrack the dancefloor in both the present and future. After all, they’ve already ignited crowds across the U.S.

Since May, Banks has hit the stage everywhere from New York to Atlanta, energizing audiences with her electric stage presence and increasingly dense collection of certified bangers. On June 18, she’ll light up the stage at Pride Fest Dallas, performing her bold, raucous anthems for thousands of fans. Other notable upcoming appearances include stops at the BET Awards, Lollapalooza, and Rolling Loud NYC.

More on Erica Banks

She’s doing more than putting out fire music. The hip-hop star is gearing up for some major concerts and festival appearances including New York City’s Rolling Loud event.

If fans wanted a show outside of concert venues, they could look no further than her freestyles, including Banks’ appearance on Hot 97 with Funk Flex. More recently, on her own YouTube account, she unloaded her FNF Freestyle.” A loosie with proclamations of independence and plenty of quotable flexes, the track is a perfect appetizer for Diary of The Flow Queen.

Over the past few years, Banks’ unique gifts as a rapper have earned her a rapid rise. In 2020, she made waves with “Buss It,” an irresistible single that smartly flipped Nelly’s 2002 classic, “Hot in Herre.” The song went viral powered in part by the #BussItChallenge, a TikTok dance trend that received over 2.7 billion views, and in the time since it was officially released, it has racked up over 248 million plays and peaked at #47 on the Billboard Hot 100. And now with Diary of The Flow Queen out, Banks is poised to continue her climb to the top.
