JAY-Z: Of course Young Hov has shut down the horrific sexual attack claims and Diddy connection
I promise my intent really isn’t to keep the NEWS section having this type of vibe - it’s way more lifestyle around these parts but it’s such a massive topic with the Diddy drama going down and music icon JAY-Z stepping up to shut down some pretty horrific sexual assault claims.

JAY-Z steps up to shut down those wild sexual assault claims
Just for context purposes, the claim circulated online over the weekend and pits Young Hov as a predator back in 2000 with an unnamed 13-year-old. Of course JAY relied on his Roc Nation company’s Instagram page to shut down the claim and provide clarity.

The Shawn Carter Foundation black tie gala had everyone pulling through
Whether you’re big into the big names like Lil Uzi Vert and Beyoncé or are blown away by the fact the foundation raised $20 million by this past Friday night, there’s plenty to celebrate from the New York City outing.
On Friday evening (7/14), The Shawn Carter Foundation hosted a black-tie gala at Pier Sixty in New York City to celebrate the organization’s 20-year anniversary.
The night saw the biggest names in music, sports, business and entertainment come together, including Shawn “JAY-Z” Carter, Mrs. Gloria Carter, Beyoncé, DJ Khaled, Lil Uzi Vert, New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, Fanatics founder Michael Rubin, Meek Mill, Babyface, Regina Hall, Yo Gotti, Angela Simmons, Miguel, Tinashe, A$AP Ferg, Saint Jhn, actor Chazz Palminteri, MLB All-Star Robinson Cano, NFL All-Pro Dez Bryant, Angie Martinez, Corey Gamble, social justice activist Tamika Mallory, Zane Lowe, Ebro Darden, Nadeska Alexis, NFL Hall of Famer Curtis Martin, Utah Jazz forward Rudy Gay, Toronto Raptors forward Chris Boucher, Baltimore Ravens offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley, Baltimore Ravens quarterback Anthony Brown Jr., Detroit Pistons forward Isaiah Stewart, Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end Tyler Lacy, and more.
By the end of the evening, The Shawn Carter Foundation had raised $20 million that will be used to help individuals facing socio-economic hardships further their education at postsecondary institutions, including a $10 million legacy donation from Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez. The donation will enable the foundation to exponentially expand multiple initiatives including our international exchange program, scholarships and community goodwill and emergency assistance programs. Jack Dorsey donated an additional $2 million to the foundation, as part of his annual contribution.
Shortly before the gala, The Shawn Carter Foundation and Robert Kraft’s Foundation to Combat Antisemitism announced a partnership to stop the nationwide book bans and protect educational freedom. As part of the collaboration, both organizations teamed up to contribute $1 million to advocate for free speech and intellectual learning. Later in the evening, Fanatics and Live Nation contributed an additional $500,000 apiece to further support the initiative. The collaborative effort will enable both organizations to provide book donations, legal support, marketing assistance, publishing help and additional resources to protect creatives and institutions harmed by the nationwide book ban.
For context, The Shawn Carter Foundation was co-founded in 2003 by Ms. Gloria Carter and Shawn “JAY-Z” Carter. The foundation has provided students with college scholarships and tours to historically black colleges and universities, study abroad opportunities, wealth building programs, and more for underserved youth and families from disenfranchised communities. All proceeds from Friday’s gala will help to open the doors of education, travel, enlightenment and experiences to those that may never have thought it possible.

Black excellent, much? You bet. Roc Nation knows how to properly give people their flowers and proves it with its RISE: The Siya Kolisi Story documentary being slated to arrive at the 2023 Tribeca Film Festival.
Roc Nation’s must-see Siya Kolsi documentary is coming
Is it June yet? The film centered on the first Black South African rugby captain’s journey to winning the World Cup is set to officially premiere at the annual event June 12.
oday, award-winning athlete, entrepreneur and philanthropist Siya Kolisi announced that his documentary “RISE - The Siya Kolisi Story,” which chronicles his journey as the first black, South African rugby captain who overcame the odds to lead his national team to win the 2019 World Cup, is set to world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival on June 12.
The documentary is more than a sports story and pulls back the curtain on Kolisi’s tumultuous upbringing in South Africa, where he navigated through poverty, systemic racism from apartheid, neighborhood violence and a complex relationship with his father.
Rugby became Kolisi’s refuge as he honed his craft, becoming the first-ever, Black captain of South Africa’s national team in its 126-year history as well as one of the greatest superstars of his generation. In the process, Kolisi’s leadership on and off the pitch inspired a country that had been plagued by decades of segregation and injustice.
“I’m truly honored to be sharing my story with millions around the world,” said Siya Kolisi. “I hope my journey inspires people to chase their dreams and reminds others to never allow adverse circumstances to define our lives. We are more than products of our environments and we have the potential to change our respective narratives.”
RISE - The Siya Kolisi Story was written and directed by Tebogo Malope, an award-winning filmmaker who most recently directed a documentary series on the launch of the NBA's Basketball Africa League that included appearances from President Barack Obama and J. Cole. Roc Nation Sports International has represented Kolisi since his historic World Cup win in 2019, having shepherded his professional and personal career endeavors. Most recently, Kolisi was featured on CBS’ iconic program, 60 Minutes, where they highlighted his life story as well as his plans to create meaningful change in South Africa.
The Tribeca Film Festival premiere of RISE - The Siya Kolisi Story comes shortly after Kolisi was awarded the National Order of Ikhamanga, a prestigious award bestowed by South African President Cyril Ramaphosa that recognizes citizens who excel in sports, arts, culture, literature, music, and journalism. In recent years, Kolisi released his best-selling autobiography, RISE, and has also been designated as the UN Global Advocate for Spotlight Initiative, nominated as a BBC Sports Star of the Year, honored as the SA Rugby Player of the Year and recognized by Forbes Africa in 2021 as one of the 100 most influential Africans. He also co-founded The Kolisi Foundation with his wife Rachel Kolisi that is committed to changing narratives of inequality in South Africa.
“Siya is an embodiment of resilience, patience and determination,” President of Roc Nation Sports International Michael Yormark said. “We are beyond thrilled to premiere this powerful documentary at the Tribeca Film Festival and help tell Siya’s inspirational story. He has shattered barriers to become a global icon and is continuing to leave an impactful legacy for the next generation.”
Roc Nation Executive Vice President of TV & Film Lori York is spearheading global distribution conversations and sales negotiations with partners for RISE - The Siya Kolisi Story. Jon Day and Vincent Mai executive produced the film alongside Yormark and York, who served as consulting producers.

The Hip Hop artists of the 1990s, including the likes of JAY-Z, Snoop Dogg, Dr Dre and the late Tupac, were known for their unique style, bold lyrics, and their ability to connect with their audience.
One thing all these artists had in common - apart from their rhythmic beats - is the fact that their exclusive music also landed them being listed amongst some of the highest net-worth celebrities in their era. Despite some turmoil along the way, Nas still commands an impressive net worth of around $70 million.
5. MC Hammer

He was known for his extravagant lifestyle, which included a large entourage, expensive cars, and a mansion in California. In 1996, he filed for bankruptcy with debts totaling around $13 million, which at the time was one of the largest personal bankruptcies in history. Stormzy digs into his JAY-Z friendship, the only place he's live outside of London and being cool with Adele
There’s no doubting the skill level Stormzy has as a musician. So it’s only right to give him his flowers on a regular basis and learn as much as you can about him the way Zane Lowe can on Apple Music 1.
There’s no doubting the skill level Stormzy has as a musician. So it’s only right to give him his flowers on a regular basis and learn as much as you can about him the way Zane Lowe can on Apple Music 1.
The duo talk it up for nearly an hour and it’s packed with gems. From revealing the only two places he could live outside of London to being cool-cool with JAY-Z and Adele, it’s must-see and hear material. Peep some. highlights from the conversation.
Stormzy on His Friendship and Love for Jay-Z...
I think the way I look at Jigga is just like... I always say there's no one who has inspired me and my brothers more than him in terms of just how he behaves, how he conducts himself, his approach to art, his approach to business, his approach to life, his approach to family. There's no one who I look at more and I feel like, yeah, you inspire me … I think it's so important, and again, I'm a feeler in it. So if I feel something like, “yo, that was sick”, or, “yo, you are amazing”, I'm that person, I would see if I saw anyone, anyone who had the song that I resonated with or done something that I loved or was in a film I like, I'm saying, "Yo, can I get a picture? Yo, you are sick." And I'm giving them all their flowers. So with Jigga, if I see him, the way I see him, he understands how much he means to me and how much he means to us.
Stormzy Tells Apple Music About Being a Musician Forever…
I don't think I've ever said this. There was a time when I used to think I can't be a musician forever, because what it takes for me to make an album is so emotionally, physically and mentally taxing this is unsustainable. Every time I go to make an album, I'm going to get in this hole of the pressure and overwhelming-ness and pressure. And I've never been a quitter, I've always said, "I'm going to do." And I looked at it and I said, "This ain't sustainable. Am I meant to do this for the rest of my life?" Imagine when I have my family and then, "Guys, got to make an album. Going to be flipping depressed” … I was like, "This is insane." So I always used to think, "I can't do this for the rest of my life." And then this time around, now that I understand God, I'm like, "Oh, it's fine." So all I do now is I go in studio, we pray, literally, "Father God, be in the room. Holy Spirit, just guide whatever." And I hope for the best and I trust God that it's going to be great. And if it's not, that's fine, because that's his plan. So, whether I leave there with the f***ing greatest song I ever made, if I leave there and I've done one lyric, if I leave there and I've done nothing, it's fine because I've given it to God and I'm doing it through him. I've taken the pressure off myself because I'm not meant to do it myself.
Stormzy Tells Apple Music About Album Track “Bad Blood” and How His Previous Relationship Inspired The Song...
‘Bad Blood's one of my, that's one of the most precious to me in terms of… the reason why that song feels so sincere and it means a lot to me is because … do you know what I really wanted to say on that? And it's what one of my favourite lyrics on the whole album, is when I say, "Can’t you tell I love you girl, it's obvious." Because I've always said as rappers or musicians, sometimes our love views or our sorrys, we wrap them and we make them a bit stylistic. You know what I mean? It's like, "I love you, babe." … You got to see the mandem and you've really got to face the results of what you've done. So for me to say that felt liberating, man. I think you described it best, I just wanted to find peace. And even throughout the whole record, anytime I speak about my relationship, it's like I'm figuring out how I'm feeling. That's why there's different versions of it. As you said, it's all these different facets of love and ‘Bad Blood’ was the most peaceful, as in it felt like, "Ah, this is what it is." As in it's mad love and it will never be bad blood. Do you know what I mean? Because of what it was.
Stormzy Tells Apple Music About His Close Friendship with Adele, Inflo, Cleo Sol and their Holiday in Jamaica…
Zane: You mentioned in that beautiful note, in that letter, that it was your friend and mine, Adele, who said to you, "You need to walk away and you need to take a break. You need some space. Protect your energy."
Stormzy: Adele, I love her deeply. And we've always had amazing conversations. And that's a true friend of mine, that's not like a music friend. So whenever we kick it, we've had really beautiful and deep conversations. And at that time it was like we weren't going on holidays, we weren't kind of enjoying the fruits of our labour. Do you know what I mean? And more so, it's more like you just get caught in the rat race of just life. Just the business of life and the distractions of life. And I think she just reminded me that it's important to have time to yourself, and to have a space of peace and silence, and where you can hear yourself think … We went away to Jamaica. It was five of us. It was me, Adele, Cleo Sol, Inflo, and April. It changed my life. It was the most beautiful… I can't even explain, it was really, really beautiful, and really healing, and really peaceful. God was on that trip. God was with us.
Stormzy Tells Apple Music About His Track “Please” and The Lyric About Meghan Markle...
Stormzy: When I was in New York, I actually watched the Oprah [Winfrey] and Meghan interview and I must have made it maybe sometime after that time. Because it's so funny because even when I said it, I didn't know I wanted to say that. A lot of things on the album or even the whole album, I want to say this, I want to say that, it was just like, okay, as I said, let God in the room, invite him into the room and just feel and express that … A lot of the time, whenever I feel things, I feel it in the most sincere, genuine way. But then sometimes how people receive it, I forget that, oh, it means something for me to feel like this. Do you get what I mean? So for perfect example, the Meghan lyric, that is the most genuine, just “leave her alone”. It's not political, it's not rooted in that. It's just a genuine “leave her alone”. Just leave her alone. If you was at a bar or you was at a party and you saw someone and it's just like leave her alone.
Zane: But also, you have some experience in that, right? Because at the end of the day, like I said, you've been put on a pedestal, bro, for most of your career. You have millions of fans around the world, but you also know what it is to feel like the trade is close.
Stormzy: It's intense. It's super-intense. And that's where... I wanted to say that. I didn't know I wanted to say that, but when I said it I was like, yeah, I want to say that … Just leave her alone, man. And there's been a few moments in my life, in my actual reality, where I've had to say, yo, leave him alone or leave her alone. And that was one of the moments, just on wax.

Kodak Black’s up for a JAY-Z Verzuz
KB hit up his social media pages to share his thoughts on going head to head with Young Hov. But instead of making it about respect, Black believes some major possessions are needed based on who wins.
“I’ll do a versus wit Jay Z “IF” he win he get 15 % of my catalog ! I win he make me Vice President of roc nation”
Black went back to his Twitter page to possibly downplay the tweet’s seriousness and reference folks coming at him over his Twitter fingers.
“I Love All My Fans & Supporters ! Love To Receive New Fans ! Love All Da Motivation & Inspiration , I Hate The Hating Can’t Take It I Jus Love When Everybody Love Me & Say I’m They Favorite”

JAY-Z says no one - yes, even you Kanye West - can see him in Verzuz
There’s some extra high confidence in JAY-Z these days. In all fairness, he’s always viewed himself as a one of one and his Twitter fingers are making sure any potential Verzuz contenders know the competition is none.

Future has passed JAY-Z status in the streets according to - of course - himself
Who doesn’t see themselves as being the best? Probably quite a few folks but leave it up to rap heavyweight Future to put the crown on himself over a living music icon like JAY-Z for what he does for the streets.

Dame Dash’s ready to dead JAY-Z feud
After getting a major shout-out from Jigga, Dame couldn’t help but acknowledge the kind words and share some hope for true hip-hop heads.
“It was beautiful. I’m glad he said it for the culture. We need to squash everything. So hopefully if that was an extended [olive branch] I’ll spin one back. I have no beef with [him] if [he has] no beef with me. Let’s get the lawyers out of it then. Let’s talk like men, but I definitely appreciate it.”
JAY-Z shows love to Dame Dash
During his induction, Young Hov gave Dame a super huge salute for their Roc-A-Fella Records run dating back to the 90’s.
“Shout-out to Dame. I know we don’t see eye to eye but I can never erase your accomplishments. And I appreciate you and I thank you for that.”
JAY-Z focused on pushing ‘The Harder They Fall’
In the meantime, JAY is staying busy focusing on the rollout of Netflix’s The Harder They Fall. The elusive rap icon even went to Instagram with his first-ever post to promote the film.
JAY-Z leads ‘The Harder They Fall’ soundtrack
Young Hov’s Roc Nation and Netflix partnered up for the film’s audio release. In addition to the Jigga Man, the album features music heavyweights including Kid Cudi, Jadakiss, Conway The Machine, Koffee, Seal, CeeLe Green, Lauryn Hill and film director Jeymes Samuel.
Each song on the soundtrack was produced by Samuel, who also co-wrote the screenplay for “The Harder They Fall” and directed the film starring Jonathan Majors, Zazie Beetz, Delroy Lindo, LaKeith Stanfield, Danielle Deadwyler, Edi Gathegi, R.J. Cyler, Damon Wayans Jr., Deon Cole with Regina King and Idris Elba. In addition to making his directorial debut, Samuel also showcases his versatility as an artist with his own song “No Turning Around” also appearing on the project.
JAY-Z's finally on Instagram + it's still all business
Music icon JAY-Z doesn’t use Twitter fingers often and his presence on Instagram has remained obsolete up until today. The hip-hop superstar comes through clutch for the IG heads by not only showing up but plugging his Roc Nation-backed The Harder They Fall production.

Director Jeymes Samuel is big proud of the soundtrack
The film’s director has since dished on being a part of the jam-packed soundtrack and dished on what it means to have a deep mixture of talent all on one project.
“I’m honored to have collaborated with such a diverse and talented array of artists to bring this film’s soundtrack to life," said Samuel. "My vision was to create a versatile body of work that blends genres and eras in an innovative way. I hope that, through our collaborative work, fans will be able to really immerse themselves in the stories we’re trying to tell.”
JAY’s on more than just one fire song
While in most cases you would figure JAY is only going to be featured on one track, Shawn Carter actually has a couple of standout collaborations.

JAY-Z makes another appearance on the soundtrack alongside Jadakiss and Conway The Machine on “King Kong Riddim” for an explosive collaboration.
Additionally, the soundtrack includes a rare appearance from Hill, whose collaborative effort with Fatoumata Diawara on “Black Woman”offers a strong message of empowerment. Hill’s appearance on “The Harder They Fall” soundtrack is significant, considering it marks the Grammy-award winning icon’s fifth release as lead artist in the past 10 years.
The project also features some notable songs by veteran musician Barrington Levy and a skit with “Atlanta” star LaKeith Stanfield and Regina King.

From theaters to Netflix
The great thing about today’s technology is if you didn’t get a chance to see The Harder They Fall in theaters, the movie is slated to soon arrive on Netflix.
The film was recently released in select theaters on October 22 and will be followed by a global release on Netflix on November 3. The domestic premiere for the film took place on Oct. 13 at The Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles while the world premiere for “The Harder They Fall” occurred at the 65th BFI London Film Festival. It received rave reviews with Deadline describing it as “a mainstream revitalization of a genre many thought was long dead” and Variety writing that the film “brings black cowboys and Jay-Z to the Oscars race.”
