Rhyming over Bankroll Got It's laid-back trumpets and thumping percussion, OT touts his '82 Benz as he switches up his flow and tears off tongue-twisting bars like only can: "I just sit back and watch, the loud got me feelin' like I'm Cam/Wild boy just like I'm Steve-O, keep flippin' money like Bam/Sippin' drank in New York City, I pour a tray our for Yams/Just rolled an 8th out the Jordan pack, I hit it like it's wham," he purrs. OT welcomes guest appearances from the legendary Curren$y, who shares OT's love for classic cars, and OT's fellow South Texan Le$. In the video, directed by DGreen Filmz, the bottom-of-the-map trio get faded in Spitta's hometown of New Orleans, as they pour lean outside the Jetlife store and enjoy life to the fullest.
"1982" is That Mexican OT's first new single since the release of Texas Technician, OT's acclaimed March 2024 mixtape. The Bay City, Texas native's tour comes hot on the heels of his album Texas Technician, a high-octane tribute to his home state's bountiful rap scene. Refining the all-encompassing aesthetic that he developed for his breakout 2023 album Lonestar Luchador,Texas Technician hones in on a sound that has percolated in the Lone Star State for decades–slow moving, warped, haunting, speaker-knocking Texas rap. Along with A-listers from across the country, OT rolls out the purple carpet for fellow Texans, including Trill-era legends like Paul Wall, Slim Thug, Z-Ro, and Propain, and contemporaries like Trapboy Freddy, OTB Fastlane, and his Bay City running mates Drodi and Hogg Booma.
Texas Technician is home to the hit single "02.02.99," a haunting horrorcore heatrock which became one of OT's biggest hits. Released in early January, the song has generated over 35 million streams across platforms. "02.02.99" peaked at #74 on the Billboard Hot 100, spending three weeks on the chart. "Twisting Fingers," a collaboration with Moneybagg Yo, is another highlight, racking up over 5.4 million YouTube views and reaching the Top 5 of YouTube's Trending Chart. The album spent five total weeks on the Billboard 200, and spawned recent videos for highlights like "Coming Dow," "Crooked Officer," a baseball-themed effort featuring Z-Ro, and "Bull Riding," filmed at the Houston Rodeo and featuring Slim Thug and DRODi.
Texas Technician continues OT's formidable hot streak, which started last summer and made him one of the most exciting breakthrough rap stars of 2023. He started his legendary run with "Johnny Dang" ft. Drodi & Paul Wall, which spent 12 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100, appeared on his album Lonestar Luchador, and most recently, earned a PLATINUMcertification from the RIAA. Acclaimed by Pitchfork (7.5), last July's Lonestar Luchador made an immediate impact, reaching #1 on the Billboard Heatseekers Albums chart and peaking at #59on the Billboard 200. That Mexican OT: It's Texas' own delivering in the '02.02.99' anthem

That Mexican OT comes through on ‘02.02.99’
It’s way more than a fire single. OT comes through with a full-fledged music video to fully set the tone.
That Mexican OT broke out in a big way with his athletic rhyming, delivered in a devilish Texan drawl. Embracing his dark side as he enters the New Year, OT shares "02.02.99," his new video single and his first new release since last summer's Lonestar Luchador. Slicing through a haunting horrorcore instrumental, That Mexican OT introduces fans to Virgil, his cutthroat true self (and his birth name), as he speaks sweet nothings to his choppa and prepares for world takeover. In the video, directed by his go-to shooter DGreen Filmz, a hooded OT heads out to the countryside in his F-150, where he wields a pitchfork, lights a bonfire, and dodges the undead.
Released as he approaches his 25th birthday in February, "02.02.99" continues OT's hot streak, which made him one of the most successful and exciting new stars in rap music. He started his legendary run with "Johnny Dang" ft. Drodi & Paul Wall, which spent 12 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100, and appeared on Lonestar Luchador, his acclaimed album. Acclaimed by Pitchfork (7.5), Lonestar Luchador came out last July, boasting highlights like the bi-lingual banger "Barrio" ft. Lefty SM, the melodic and guitar-inflected revenge anthem "Breannan," and the villainesque stomper "Cowboy Killer." Lonestar Luchador made an immediate impact, reaching #1 on the Billboard Heatseekers Albums chart and peaking at #59 on the Billboard 200. Later in the year, OT embraced a Texas rap tradition when he shared Lonestar Luchador (Chopped Not Slopped), remixed by DJ Lil Steve of the legendary collective The Chopstars. Featuring additional guest appearances from BigXThaPlug and Big Yavo, Lonestar Luchador is available everywhere via Manifest/GoodTalk/Good Money Global.
Lonestar Luchador capitalized on the momentum generated by "Johnny Dang," That Mexican OT's breakout hit, released earlier this summer. First gathering heat as a snippet on TikTok and Instagram, the Paul Wall and Drodi-featuring song spent weeks in the top ten of Spotify's U.S. Viral 50 chart, and spent 12 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, peaking at #65, #14 on the Hot Rap Songs chart and #19 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs. Recently, “Johnny Dang” became That Mexican OT’s first song to earn GOLD status from the RIAA. Just last week, OT was named a "Breakthrough Artist To Watch" by Amazon Music.
This fall, That Mexican OT completed the "Lonestar Luchador Tour," the Bay City native's first-ever headlining tour, selling out dozens of dates across the country. The rapper earned "Best Of 2023" notices from The New York Times, Rolling Stone, Billboard, Complex, and Pitchfork,

So all day Saints Row over GTA or are those just two different universes like DC Comics and Marvel?
That Mexican OT: I’m gonna definitely put Saints Row over GTA.
Get outta here? I don’t think people understand just how dope of a franchise Saints Row is. Especially when you get remastered and all that. That’s such a legendary franchise that gets slept on, I think in one of your interviews you talked about there being dope hip-hop references to it, I think you were talking about Beanie Sigel had contributed something.
That Mexican OT: It’s just everything about it. I remember the first and the second one, just the storyline and how it came in. Everything down to the characters. The name of the gangs. Where it was based out of. The music they were jamming. Everything about it was just top tier and I just fell in love with the whole game overall.
You’ve got to talk about the Curren$y collaboration on your song ‘September 8’ from the new album. Was that some label type stuff, some Southern type of love, how did you and Curren$y get together?
That Mexican OT: My man Greg lined us up with Fee Banks and he’s really good friends with him. It was really off the love and off the strength from Fee showing love. He was like, ‘Yo, I got this dude. He’s really hot. I think you should fuck with him.’ Curren$y being the cool as motherfucker that he is, he could have easily been like ‘Nah,’ but he came correct on it too.
He blessed it definitely. I would just say it was off the love. Definitely.
You can tell he still has those kid things. I remember when we went to the car show they were all over there playing with their toy cars and fucking hitting switches and having competitions. It was cool.
It’s shit me and my boys do. It’s cool to see him like that and be cool like that. Just cool as fuck. It was an hour meeting him.
I gotta imagine you’ve gotta be super particular when it comes working with others. Of course I mentioned ‘September 8’ but collaborating overall?
That Mexican OT: Yeah, I really don’t like doing features with nobody unless it’s like my team. But the reason why I’m like that is because I know I can do it. I can come from every angle on this song and keep you entertained. I just have that ability. I was blessed with that.
The only reason I would do features is for my fans. Because they deserve things like that. They work hard for me. If they want it, I’m going to give it to them. Everybody wants to see me Peso and DeeBaby. I think they’re both harder than a bitch.
I feel like we can definitely do something. They want to see me do music with like Swifty Blue - there’s a lot of hard ass Cali rappers too. There’s Mexicans over the US that are hard but Texas? I feel like we’re really standing out for sure for sure.
I’ll definitely work with them. Whatever they want, I’m going to give it to them.
OT, you’ve gotta talk about the love of freestyling. That’s a gift that a lot of people either have it or don’t have it. I love Drake but with Team Lightskin, we’ve taken a few L’s because he’s had to rap off the phone before. I know you’re very genuine about it. We just know you’re super witty with the wordplay. Freestyles, is that just something you’ve had in the arsenal?
That Mexican OT: I like freestyling. It’s cool when I’m fucked up with my boys but for the most part, I grew up idolizing everything from the East Coast and Detroit, I love Michigan, fucking everything in New York and all of them would write that shit down and master it and master it.
They would master it so well they could deliver it many different ways and go to the block and beat them up with that. So rapping and freestyling is fun but I like mastering and performing.
I’m a showman. My music’s not even meant to be recorded. It’s meant to be recorded. I was just blessed with that. I’m a bad motherfucker when it comes to that.
That Mexican OT’s Nonsense & Mexican Sh*t album officially drops Friday, August 26.
