The WNBA Lids hats have arrived
The league keeps growing and fans have even more reason to pull through for games or even just lifestyle flexing with super fresh headwear. The details are as crispy as the hats look.
Unlike typical WNBA hats, this is the first time that New Era has designed fitted, team-specific WNBA headwear. Even beyond that, no other hat brand has released a fashion colorway specific for WNBA teams. Lids, through its Lids Hat Drop ecommerce and in-store platforms, is the first retailer to release a hat of this kind, with retro logos and side patches from previous years. Inspired by the nostalgic look of the women’s sports apparel industry, this first-of-its-kind collection is a nod to the first 8 WNBA teams that started in the inaugural season.
Since Lids’ founding in 1993, the brand has quickly expanded, to date there are over 1,500 Lids stores throughout North America, Europe, and Australia. Lids continues to be the world’s largest retailer specializing in the sale of officially licensed, branded, and fashion headwear, with over 30 million hats sold annually.
In collaboration with Made for the W, the collection will be sold online exclusively on LidsHatDrop.com exclusive and will only be available in-store at the recently opened Lids Hat Drop store in Jamaica, Queens, NY. Following the success of the Lids Hat Drop e-commerce platform which launched earlier this year, the new Lids Hat Drop store operates similarly to its e-commerce counterpart with exclusive and limited-edition drops every Friday at 11AM EST.

The WNBA edition NBA 2K23 cover looks epic
Coming fresh from the news of MJ getting his own cover, Taurasi and Bird are the talk of the NBA 2K23 community right now with the huge news going viral.
2K today announced that Phoenix Mercury's two-time Kia WNBA Finals MVP, three-time WNBA Champion, WNBA all-time leading scorer, and five-time Olympic gold medalist Diana Taurasi, along with Seattle Storm’s four-time WNBA Champion, thirteen-time WNBA All-Star, WNBA all-time assists leader, and five-time Olympic gold medalist, Sue Bird, will grace the cover of the NBA® 2K23 WNBA Edition. Exclusively available at GameStop only in the U.S. and Canada, the NBA 2K23 WNBA Edition marks the second cover in NBA 2K franchise history to celebrate WNBA athletes. Diana and Sue join Michael Jordan as the current NBA 2K23 cover athletes, with one more major cover athlete announcement to be made tomorrow.
Diana Taurasi and Sue Bird are hyped
Diana and Bird have wasted zip-zero time speaking out on the huge honor. They noted how much it means to inspire future generations to dedicate themselves to the same sport they love.
“It really is an incredible feeling to see your hard work memorialized on the cover of a game like NBA 2K23,” said Taurasi. “There are so many kids that dream of pursuing a professional basketball career, and they can now also dream of being on the NBA 2K cover, whether they want to play in the NBA or WNBA.”
“It’s amazing to see myself on the cover of a video game that has such a cultural impact,” said Bird. “And by partnering with NBA 2K and Every Kid Sports, Diana and I have the opportunity to open doors to hundreds of young girls in this country who want to express themselves on the court. I’m honored to be on the cover, and even more honored to use my legacy to provide these opportunities for the next generation.”
Even 2K executive Alfie Brody has stepped up to speak on the huge cover stars.
“The response to NBA 2K’s first WNBA Edition last year was overwhelmingly positive and a testament to the W’s growing audience and prominence,” said Alfie Brody, Vice President of Global Marketing Strategy at 2K. “Sue Bird and Diana Taurasi have achieved greatness both individually and together, cementing their status as two of the best players in the WNBA’s history.”
