THE WHALES: Def Jam's animated crew link with MadeinTYO and Tkay Maidza for 'Hunned Racks'
I love fire anthems and since the 80’s, it’s clear Def Jam has been doing this for a long time and shows no signs of being old heads. Just the opposite - evolving with the times and keeping The Culture moving forward with animated group THE WHALES linking with MadeinTYO and Tkay Maidza for their hard-hitting ‘Hunned Racks’ anthem.
THE WHALES deliver more than just a ‘Hunned Racks’
Whether you need to turn up or put those workout goals in full gear, the crew have you covered on the new audio gem.
Animated music group THE WHALES drops electrifying G-funk-inspired second single, “Hunned Racks,” featuring rapid-fire raps from multicultural hitmaker and label boss MadeinTYO and an addictive, money-talks hook performed by platinum Zimbabwean-Australian Sweet Justice phenom Tkay Maidza. The visionary track is a collaborative union of vibe master TK (The Kid Laroi, Rae Sremmurd, Kehlani) and Grammy-winning writer and producer Leven Kali (Drake, Beyonce).
“Hunned Racks” marks the latest intoxicating offering from THE WHALES following their game-changing November 2023 debut “Uncut Gems” featuring multi-hyphenate KYLE and a remix from British DJ and producer Seb Wildblood.
A virtual music group and idiosyncratic concept project, THE WHALES have masterfully developed a futuristic funk sound blending genre-bending musical inspirations from Daft Punk to DJ Khaled. Consisting of illusory band members Ricky & Nico, THE WHALES reside in the fictional underwater city of Los Aquales (based on 2050 Los Angeles), where the polar ice caps have melted, humans have fled to Mars on Elon’s ships, and Whales now rule the world.
In addition to their fin-gyrating music contributions, THE WHALES converged to pioneer an experimental platform to consume and experience music. For this release, fans will be gifted with the opportunity to purchase limited edition digital-first vinyl collectibles, redeemable for physical vinyl.
As the dynamic duo readies even bigger projects in the studio, “Hunned Racks” glimpses at a wave of earworm successors. Hinting at significant strides on the near horizon, THE WHALES takeover may prove far closer than 2050.
