WWE 2K25: The best WWE game - ever - has arrived

Just keeping it super 100? I have played WWE games going all the way back to Nintendo 64’s WWF War Zone and WWF WrestleMania to PlayStation’s WWF SmackDown! - needless to say, I’ve been doing this wrestling gaming goals for a long time and with recent drops like WWE 2K23-24 - I have continued to be blown away with each drop but this WWE 2K25? Game-changing - literally.

WWE 2K25’s is the best WWE game - ever

I’m calling it right now and of course you can see - plus feel it - all around the site today. A full 72 hours of having the pleasure of embracing WWE 2K25 on my PlayStation 5 - I can deliver the highlights and the biggest takeaways from 2K’s newest offering.

The roster is mind-blowing

Each release comes loaded with a current, throwback and surprise line-up of wrestlers. But this newest rollout? Jam-packed with more than 300 playable characters but getting the most updated and graphical versions of the late Chyna, Bret ‘Hit Man’ Hart, Rob Van Dam and more? Well, forget just saying ‘more’ - how about getting a look at what you’re exactly getting? Say less.

It’s bigger than just the actual wrestlers as well. How about getting a full look at the non-playable managers plus some of those pre-order perks? Giddy up.

Call me simplistic but just having the most expansive line-up of WWE characters to embrace and engage with? It’s enough for me to want this game in my weekly rotation of gaming goals. Reliving iconic matches, going back to those glorious Stone Cold Steve Austin versus The Rock days - or how about the legendary ‘Socko’ movement with The Rock and Mankind? It’s all at your fingertips but what makes this WWE 2K25 stand out more than previous drops?

The Island

Yes - let’s keep it 100. The Island is the version of NBA 2K’s The City but facts are facts - create your own superstar wrestler determined to rise to the top. Overlook the unavoidable micro transactions and slightly higher than expected VC rates for things like haircuts and costume changes - and embrace the community of random people you’re engaging with and freedom to explore.

In The Island, you’ll encounter four distinct WWE-themed districts, each offering a unique atmosphere, challenges, and plenty of opportunities for exploration. Here’s a breakdown of each one:

  • Hero HQ

Hero HQ is a bright bastion of all that is good. Stand tall and celebrate the top WWE stars that overcome all odds and stand up for the little guy. However, make sure to stay vigilant—for some reason this area is constantly under attack from WWE villains, who undertake all kinds of tactics to gain power on The Island.

  • The Arcade of Tomorrow

The technological haven that is The Arcade of Tomorrow shines as a fusion of tradition and innovation. This space is a mecca for all gamers, comic book lovers, and the pop-culture obsessed.

  • The Temple of Ancestors

Rising from The Island as a colossal testament to power and reverence, The Temple of the Ancestors stands as a tribute to the importance of Lucha culture and acknowledging the wrestling greats who paved the way for the Superstars of today.

  • The Deadlands

A portal to the supernatural, The Deadlands stands in restless defiance of its own existence. Most living dare not tread—yet should you cross its threshold, the haunting cathedral overlooks a graveyard that conceals many secrets… and whispers your name.

The highlight of each district is a unique arena, where players will not only find themselves completing quest matches and challenges, but will be able to challenge friends or matchmake with other online players. Which one will be your favorite to step through the ropes to throw down?

There’s plenty more to explore and as you navigate Attack The Culture today leading up to tonight’s Monday Night Raw broadcast on Netflix - geek out over what WWE 2K25 is packing and get chiseled up - digitally - and catch me on The Island.

WWE 2K25 is now available on PlayStation, Steam and Xbox.
