Yella Beezy announces Asylum Records deal + drops 'I Guess' video

Rap star Yella Beezy is staying extra busy these days and ups his career by teaming up with Asylum Records. The hip-hop heavyweight celebrates his power move with the release of his “I Guess” music video.

Yella Beezy announces Asylum Records deal

The Texas-raised rap artist’s new music video comes through his newly inked partnership.

“I Guess” opens up with ominous production and menacing piano keys provided by frequent collaborator Monstah Beatz (Trapboy Freddy, Philthy Rich). The track culminates on a head-knocking chorus as he urges, “I guess you ain’t think that a n*gga really hustle, b*tch, I can sell salt to a snail.” Directed by Leff, the accompanying visual brings his Dallas roots to life as Yella Beezy maneuvers through black and white film to riding in a lowrider while showcasing his uncompromising flow. Speaking on the new track, Yella Beezy shares, “On this song “I Guess”, I’m basically saying that after a small hiatus, I’m still the shit! And I guess they thought a lot of things about me, but contrary to your beliefs, I’m back and better than ever.”

Asylum Records is big happy about the deal

The record label’s head honcho has since confirmed the power move and hyped up about what fans should expect from the partnership.

“We are very excited to welcome Yella Beezy to the Asylum family,” says Asylum Records President Dallas Martin. “He’s built an incredible brand and catalog over the last several years. We look forward to continuing his trajectory to global superstardom.”

The non-stop music grind

Over the past few years, Beezy has remained focused on gearing up and leveling up his career with millions of streams.

Yella Beezy's rise to mainstream popularity came soon after releasing his mixtape Lite Work, Volume 2 in 2017. Included in the highly acclaimed mixtape was his hit single "That's On Me" which peaked at 37 on Billboard's Hot 100 charts (200M+ video views). In 2020, Yella Beezy released "Headlocc" with Young Thug (35+ million streams), "Solid" with 42 Dugg (6+ million streams), and "On Fleek" featuring Gunna (8+ million streams). Earlier this year, he released the viral hit “STAR” featuring rising rapstress Erica Banks which garnered over 2 million video views. Throughout the course of his career, Yella Beezy has collaborated on tracks with Lil Baby, Gucci Mane, and Chris Brown among many others. The Dallas born rapper currently boasts over 1 million monthly listeners on Spotify and over a billion combined streams across all platforms.
