Lyrah's new 'In The Leaves' deserves a music video ASAP
Granted, you are here for pure hip-hop culture but blame it on Drake going all EDM on his latest studio effort because what Lyrah is serving up courtesy of her new ‘In The Leaves’ anthem is unbelievable.
You get sucked into the beat right away and can’t help but ride the audio wave through the end. A music video is needed - badly - sooner than later. Peep the details and keep scrolling to hear Lyrah’s fire tune.
Artist, songwriter, and producer, LYRAH, got her start writing toplines for Axtone Records, the label created by Swedish DJ/Producer Axwell. Since pursuing a solo path, she has carved out a space in the musical landscape, dazzling listeners with her distinctive brand of indie dance-pop.
Today, LYRAH unveils her latest single, “In the Leaves” from her forthcoming EP. The track was co-written by Benji of Slenderbodies. Already released singles from the EP include “Hold Me” and “Sorry CVS.” The EP was produced by Jon Wienner of the Roommates (Selena Gomez, Dominic Fike, Demi Lovato).
“I wrote this song about a dream I had before I decided to quit my stable, full-time job,” shares LYRAH.
“In the dream, I kept waking up outside. On the sidewalk in San Francisco. In the leaves by a country road. I kept choosing that over my bed, and it felt surprisingly calm when I’d wake up outside of my home. Soon after, I had a session with Benji of Slenderbodies and we talked about this dream and how it seemed to mirror my life circumstances. I could choose to stay in the comfort of a full-time job…or leave and be happier and more satisfied with less.”
“Well, I quit the job and I kept the song,” she adds.
LYRAH has an impressive ability to juxtapose sad euphoria with dance beats. Her songs have been featured on a variety of top playlists including Spotify's Fresh Finds, Tidal's Pop Somber, and Apple Music's Vibes and Nightcap.
LYRAH’s music has also been featured in the hit HBO show "The Sex Lives of College Girls" and "Charmed.”
Currently, LYRAH can be heard on the Holiday87’s (of The Knocks) latest release, “Omen,” which has been featured on Spotify’s New Music Dance Friday, Crying on the Dance Floor, New Dance Beats, and Metropolis; Apple Music’s Breaking Dance and New in Dance; and Amazon’s Electronic Feels and Fresh Electronic.
When she isn’t writing or performing, LYRAH is a tech designer for other artists. Having previously worked at Meta, she recently made the leap to pursue her artistry full-time. She remains a leading voice in the emerging Web3 music space and is a collaborator on projects with Grimes and Record Deal Simulator.
